Olympic Weightlifting Club - Cairns 🌓

Saturday was another reminder of what this sport is really built on.

Athletes stepping onto the platform.
Referees giving up their time.
Loaders moving plates between attempts.
Coaches in corners.
Families staying late.
People cheering for lifts that weren’t even their own.

That’s what keeps weightlifting alive.

Not massive crowds.
Not money.

Community.

Just good people coming together because they care about the sport and the people inside it.

Thank you to every single person who played a part in making the night happen.

To the lifters who put themselves out there.
To the referees, loaders and volunteers who helped everything run smoothly.
To everyone who stayed back, supported others, clapped loudly, loaded bars, packed up and contributed to the atmosphere inside the gym.

This is how strong communities are built.

One platform.
One night.
One shared effort at a time.

Some people think progress in weightlifting comes from motivation.

It doesn’t.

The lifters who improve aren’t always the strongest.

Gold doesn't come from luck.
It comes from structure.

This weekend, Jim stepped onto the platform at the Queensland Masters and took šŸ„‡ Gold for the 55-59 age division.

But that's not the story.

Last year, Jim was coming off shoulder surgery.

No shortcuts.
No rushing back.
Just doing the work, properly.

Rebuilding.
Following the plan.
Staying patient when most wouldn't.

And this weekend?

First time back on the platform… and he absolutely nailed it.

That's what happens when:

This isn't about medals.

It's about proving that with the right plan and the right standards… you don't just come back.
