That’s a wrap for all of us down here at the 2026 Youth State Championships - we came, we saw and we conquered. The North QLD Branch are so proud of all of our athletes who gave it 💯 and we can’t wait to do it all again next year. The experience and excitement is incredible and very special to be apart of. Thank you to all involved, your support is invaluable.

The 2026 Youth Surf State Championships commenced impressively today, with the North Queensland Branch Team achieving a remarkable first, second, and third in the 2 km beach run. The team's stylish uniforms made a lasting impression, and gratitude is expressed to all contributors. We look forward to the next three days of competition, aiming to secure further recognition. 

Lauren Ballwin, our team captain, exhibited her exceptional running abilities today, securing the bronze medallion in the under 15 - 2km beach run. Lauren's love for running is evident, and her natural talent in this area is impressive. Her determination and spirit were inspired by her father, David, who was cheering her on from the sidelines, creating a heartwarming moment for both Lauren and her father. Congratulations to Lauren on her impressive achievement.

At the 2026 Youth Surf State Championships, NQBYST's Under 13 Male Athlete Riley Brennan showcased exceptional talent. Riley secured a silver medal in the 2 km beach run, making the North Queensland team proud with his dedication to running, as he sprinted home with determination, prompting loud cheers from the sidelines.

North Queensland's Halle Cygler is congratulated on her outstanding achievement of winning GOLD in the
2km under 14 female run at the 2026 Youth Sate Surf Championships. Her commitment to sports is an inspiration to all the younger members of the club. Her mum Anece is also a dedicated supporter and member of Surf Life Saving and seeing her daughter achieve her goal today was an amazing moment
