Built on earning every opportunity - not waiting for it - the Underdogs 7s are bringing hunger, heart, and purpose to Cairns in 2026.

Built on rugby, identity, peace and unity, we proudly welcome Black Orchid 7evens to the Cairns 7s Rugby Tournament 2026 - Men's Division, from the 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞, also known as: “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐁”

Following the Bougainville Crisis (1988–1998), the team was formed to help promote:

As Bougainville continues its journey toward independence, the team hopes to use rugby to promote pride, discipline and positive representation for its people.

The name “𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬” is not just a name… It comes from a real tradition. 𝐈𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐭, 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐭 𝐓𝐚𝐯𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨, men dig deep into hot volcanic ash to harvest wild fowl (megapode) eggs - a practice passed down through generations.

where the foundations of the club were first built. In 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, the club entered a new chapter, establishing its current structure and presence in 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐛𝐲, bringing together players and purpose for the next level of competition.
