A smaller crew on the water today, but that just meant plenty of focused work and quality paddling. 🌊🔥 Every stroke counts as we fine-tune things for Townsville next weekend! 🏁

💙 One of the things that keeps our club going is fundraising, and this weekend many of our amazing team members are volunteering at the Cairns Ironman 🏃‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏊‍♂️

⚡🌅 Chased the last light of the day with a short but speedy session before sunset. Legs felt strong, pace felt smooth, timing good and every minute counted. Sometimes the quickest workouts leave the biggest buzz. 🚀🔥 💪✨

Tonight we welcomed Julie and Les for a sneaky pre-birthday paddle ahead of Les’s big day 🎉🎂🚣‍♂️. Wishing you a fantastic birthday, Les!
We also said “Buon viaggio!” 🇮🇹✈️ to Viv and Drew as they head off on their travels. Safe adventures and smooth paddling wherever you go—we can’t wait to see you back on the water soon! 🌍☀️🌊
And of course, a big welcome to Peter, who splits his time between Canberra and Cairns 🏙️🌴. Great to have you join us!
The evening was topped off with a lovely dinner shared with some of our previous members 🍽️😊, including Sue P, who was visiting from WA 🌅. It was wonderful to catch up, share a few stories and laughs, and enjoy the company of old and new friends alike 💙✨.

🏆 It’s been two weeks since the Vogalonga and the Cairns Dragon Boat Club crew are nearly all home after an unforgettable adventure in Venice, successfully completing the 30km Vogalonga 2026! 🇦🇺🇮🇹🐉
Now in its 50th year, Vogalonga is a world-renowned, non-competitive paddling event celebrating human-powered boats. The course winds through the Venetian Lagoon before finishing along the Grand Canal and beneath the iconic Rialto Bridge—a truly spectacular setting for this remarkable event.
Over the past year, our paddlers have dedicated themselves to training, building endurance, strength, and teamwork. Countless hours on the water and months of preparation paid off in Venice, where our crew successfully completed the 30km course.
What an adventure! 🙌🏼
From the beautiful weather to the incredible food, breathtaking sights, and friendships strengthened along the way, Venice delivered memories that will stay with us for years to come.
A huge thank you to every paddler, supporter, family member, and friend who helped make this journey possible. An even bigger thank you to the crew who stayed home and kept the club ticking along while we were away.
Representing Cairns on the international stage and sharing this challenge together has been one of the most rewarding and memorable achievements in our club’s history.
