Thanks to the generous support of Paul & Tara at Elements Air & Refrigeration, we have three great races lined up this August, with cash prizes for series place getters across all senior grades, medals for junior series place getters and a Mitsubishi Electric 564L French Door Fridge valued at $3099 up for grabs.

We also want to recognise the volunteers who make our events possible. Riders receive two tickets in the fridge draw for every race, while volunteers receive three tickets for every event they help with.

What a weekend of cycling!

Sunday's Bungalow criterium delivered some awesome racing, following an epic day at the Smith Park Velodrome on Saturday, where the The Cairns Birdwings and Rosies Riders Cardiac Challenge teams took over the track for their annual 12-hour relay fundraiser.

We've seen some MASSIVE ride totals coming through on Strava from our members and fellow cyclists. It did get us wondering... was it a dollar per kilometre everyone was donating? 😉🤞

Now it's back to our regular programming, with another full week of training and racing ahead.

If you're planning to line up for the crit series, this week's sessions are a great chance to tune up your racing and pacing skills before Race 1 | Elements Air & Refrigeration Winter Criterium Series on Friday 7 August.

🏁 Introducing the Elements Air & Refrigeration Winter Criterium Series!

We're excited to launch a brand new three-round winter criterium series, proudly supported by Elements Air & Refrigeration.

Racing will take place across both the Smith Park Velodrome and the Bungalow criterium circuit, with riders battling it out over three rounds to collect the most points across the series.

We're still putting the finishing touches on the points system and overall prizes, but one thing's for sure... you'll want to clear your diary!

📅 Round 1 kicks off on Friday 7 August at Smith Park Velodrome, with Rounds 2 and 3 to follow at Bungalow.

Need to brush up on your crit skills first? Join us this Sunday 26 July for our regular criterium racing at Bungalow.

Who's ready to race?

🏁 Racing starts: 7:30am
💰 $15 seniors | $8 juniors

Racing is open to all grades, with grades determined based on the riders present on the day.

We're also looking for Traffic Marshals to help with corner duties. If you're racing, could you spare some time to marshal before or after your race? Better still, bring along a partner, family member or friend to help out.

If you can assist, please contact the club via Messenger.

The more volunteers we have, the easier it is to run safe, successful race days for everyone.

Want to get qualified?
The Queensland Government's free online Event Traffic Marshal course takes around 20–90 minutes to complete, and once you've passed the assessment you can help marshal at future club events. We'll pop the link in the comments.

Aus Cycling AMV Madison Clinic!

If you are a junior track or elite masters rider and are planning on participating in the State Championships, the Australian Junior Track Series (AJTS), and the National Under 17 Championships and wishing to compete in Madison events, successful completion of the AMV Madison clinic is a prerequisite.

Aus Cycling are hosting a clinic October 17/18 & 24/25

The Madison Clinic is conducted by experienced AusCycling coaches and is designed to ensure riders can safely complete Madison training sessions while gaining the skills and accreditation required to compete in Madison events.
