Townsville Club Championships at Sun City Raceway 🏁 Round 4 🏁

What a beautiful, sunny day it was in Townsville! We've had a few big weekends away lately, but one thing we've learnt is that nothing beats seat time. So, it was off to Townsville for another weekend of racing.

With a new engine, "Shark Bait," we wanted toget plenty of running-in time. Jace was happy to use it for practice and Heats 1, 2 and 3. Then, just five minutes before the final, he decided to switch back to his old faithful engine, "Nemo."

Jace ran in 3rd place for almost the entire final, but coming into the last corner he made a bold move (as you'll see in the video!) and crossed the line in 1st place πŸ₯‡

Unfortunately, the celebrations were short-lived. At the post-race weigh-in, Jace's kart came in 200g under weight. To most people that might not sound like much, but in karting it's everything. As a result, he was disqualified and lost the win.

While it was a tough way to end the day, Jace held his head high. He proved to himself that he has what it takes to win, and that's something no disqualification can take away.

This is only the beginning. πŸ’™πŸ

Cairns Club Championships at Mako Track! 🏁 Round 4

After qualifying P3, Jace was ready to take on the heats.

Heat 1 brought tricky conditions after rain. While the rest of the field stayed on slicks, Jace took a gamble and bolted on the wet tyres. The strategy paid off perfectly, giving him the grip he needed to drive through the field and take the heat win πŸ₯‡

Heat 2 and 3 the track was dried, so it was back onto slicks. Jace put together another strong drive finishing 3rd, keeping himself in a great position heading into the final. πŸ₯‰

The final didn't go to plan early on when Jace spun, dropping him all the way to the back of the field. Refusing to give up, he fought his way back through the pack with some determined driving to finish an incredible 3rd place! πŸ₯‰ 🏎️

Qualifying - 3rd
Heat 1 - 1st
Heat 2 - 3rd
Heat 3 - 3rd
Final - 3rd

A massive effort from Jace and the whole team, making smart decisions, overcoming setbacks, and never giving up. A day full of determination, great racing, and a well-earned podium finish’s! πŸ†πŸ‘

Wow what a race day for the team and Jace Fewtrell Racing28. We rolled Jace Fewtrell Racing28 into practice on used tyres with a slightly different setup to what we normally run at Townsville Kart Club to just mix it up and try something different. Jace finished practice in top 5, which was great for Jace and a good follow on from the performance he had in Proserpine the week before for NQ Series Round 1.

We then went into qualifying not really changing a huge amount with the new tyres bolted on. With 17 karts on the track it was going to be difficult to get in a clean lap with all the traffic. However Jace didn't let this get in the way and kept putting in faster and faster laps. in the end Jace finished qualifying in Pole Position with a 46.584 his fasted time he has done in Townsville yet.

Starting from Pole was nerve wracking for Jace especially leading a large field into turn 1. With a slightly slow start missing the start Jace was on the back foot in Heat 1 but managed to claw back his opening deficit to bring it home in 3rd. This meeting is total points for the round so consistency around the 4 heats and final was key

Jace kept his consistency across the rest of the heats heading into the final sitting 3rd in the points.
With some great driving in the final Jace was mixing it with the best and come home in 4th for KA3 Junior which sealed his 3rd position overall for the meeting. This is a great achievement and his first podium finish at Townsville Kart Club.

Results for the day as follows

Qualifying - 1st
Heat 1 - 3rd
Heat 2 - 3rd
Heat 3 - 2nd
Heat 4 - 4th
Final - 4th

Overall - 3rd

A really positive weekend for Jace and hopefully we can keep this momentum moving into QLD State titles in the coming months.
