Australian All Schools 2023 - Perth
We had two of our athletes head west for the Australian All Schools Championships with Jack Campbell and Piper Devine.
On debut, Jack proved he was ready for this level of competition breezing through to the final of the U14 Boys 100m. With all the best athletes lining up Jack stormed home to narrowly miss the podium by just 0.03sec finishing 5th in the final. With this being his very first season, itβs exciting to see what he can produce with a little more experience.
For the first time in her athletics journey, Piper contested the 400/800 at an Australian Championships. Piper ran a solid 800 to finish 7th in the U17 Girls 800 final in a hotly contested field. Backing up after the 400m heats and the 800m Final piper rounded out with a PB in the 400m running a 56.14 to finish 4th narrowly missing the podium by 0.1sec. This puts Piper within a second off the World U20 Championships qualifying standard for both the 400 and the 800. With a little more work in this double Piper will be one to watch come April.
