As the saying goes "out with the old and in with the new". After selling our trusty old No.7 VY we have officially taken delivery of the new shell. A huge thanks to our major sponsor Gympie Auto Wreckers for looking after us yet again with the new rig. Keep an eye out for the odd update throughout the new build. 👍

A bit of a belated recap to a rather belated start to the 2014/15 season for us.
It was a very busy night at Gympie Speedway with double duties.
Running the Gympie Auto Wreckers Production Sedan as well as having the absolute pleasure of steering the Nashy's Produce owned NDR - NashDoyleRacing VE Commodore Modified Sedan along side Todd Doyle in the annual running of the Masondale Haulage 20/20.
After eight months off we weren't expecting any miracles. But we came away from the Production heats with 2 x 1sts and a 2nd. Starting from outside pole in the final we slid back to third after the green. Fighting for second for the opening few laps we had a small altercation and were relegated to rear of field for the restart. Unfortunately the race had numerous stoppages and it only ran about 9 laps leaving us little opportunity to fight back through the field. That's racing I guess. Was good to get back in the rocket all the same.
In the 20/20 the night had a similar theme. After striking some power steering dramas in hot laps Todd managed 2 x 1sts and a 2nd in his heats while I had a dream run scoring 3 wins. This qualified us out of pole for the feature. I drove the first feature, assuming the lead from the green only to have a tyre start going down just a few laps in. That was that. A quick tyre change gave Todd the opportunity to start from the rear of the second feature. Unfortunately he was involved in an incident and failed to finish his feature also.
This night of racing was some of the most fun I've had in a race car. I can't thank Nashy and Todd enough for the opportunity to race the car. Hopefully one day we can do it again.
It also goes without saying a massive thanks to the crew. Ty, Ben and Matt. They allowed me to jump between cars and all I had to worry about was how any tear offs I had on.

The Gympie Auto Wreckers No.7 has been weighed and measured and we are bound for G-town, the home of Mothar Mountain Speedway, for the Australian Production Sedan Championships. It's going to be the biggest Proddie show we've seen in QLD so get on down a take a look!

A very different mood in the workshop this week with the team mascots lounging around in the spoils of a relatively successful weekend.
After a ridiculously busy week last week to get the chariot fixed for the Qld title we set sail for Kingaroy to do battle. It was down to the wire, literally loading the car with some welds still too hot to touch! We made it with just enough time to get through scrutineering and make the role call at driver's briefing.
Then it was time to take a breath and do what we had worked so hard for.
The heats ran smoothly, comin away with 3 wins from 3 starts and putting us out of pole for the big dance, the 40 lap final.
The final took a few attempts to get going, but once it did we managed to lead for about 33laps, it was about lap 34 when Tim Atkin got a run on us around the outside.
We battled with Tim right to the end but to no avail and had to settle for 2nd. Congratulations to Tim on a hard, clean race.
It was one spot away from the perfect thanks to the awesome crew, who put a massive effort in to get the car there. Without them it would not have been there let alone as fast as it was. Ty Horne, Ben Mudie, Matt Stevenson and Rob Mudie, you guys are unbelievable in your commitment!
Also a shoutout to their respective wives and partners for their patience, lol.
A special mention has to go to Kane, Brett and the team at Cooloola Panel and Paint for making sure that the old girl was straight and fighting fit before we put it back together.
As always a massive thanks to all the fantastic sponsors
