No business ever sets out with the intention of navigating a global pandemic and the inflationary and cost of living pressures that follow it. Unfortunately the further time has passed since the pandemic, the harder it has been to keep Hobart Paintball above water.
Most of us are no strangers to the current strain on household budgets, our little business has felt the full impact with the average group size decreasing by 60% since 2022 and record no-shows (30% in December 2025) on top of that we don't have a secure lease for our current premises. I've worked additonal full time jobs for most of the past 6 years to supplement the business, but at some point you have to ask is the physical, metal and social toll worth working almost every single day to hold up a sinking business?
With all of these factors, I have made the difficult decision to close the business. This weekend is our last weekend of trading.

With all of the gloomy feels above, I would love to also acknowledge every single customer we have had over the past 6 years, I appreciate all of you.
Operating this business has been a wonderful way to meet a lot of people from different backgrounds and learn so much about different people. It's forced me to grow a lot as a person, to be patient, alert, firm but fair, adaptable and willing to jump in the line of fire to help a player in despair. I've learnt about consumer psychology, group dynamics, public speaking and the art of subtle manipulation to get safe and fun outcomes from overly excited people. Thank you to all of the staff we've had over the years, you've all been wonderfully amazing and contributed to helping people celebrate birthdays, bucks/hens parties and team building events.

People always ask us for tips, our biggest tips for newbies:
1. Follow safety rules -an otherwise great session could turn bad real quick if you don't.
2. Make sure you know how to hold your gun properly -if you need help our staff are always more than happy to help with this or any other questions or tips you might want to know.
3. Move fast -fast targets are harder to shoot
4. Use cover to your advantage - Use varying heights and use cover to block your movement on the field
5. Have fun - you play paintball to have competitive and social fun, so do that please!
6. Follow game rules -we get it you're excited and amped and the odd person the excitement gets the better of them. But when we ask you to respect the rules, its to ensure the enjoyment of all players.
