So pleased to see Paige's clear round over this 120 cm course. She rode it beautifully - especially those corners! Looking forward to more 'tune-up' lessons over the summer break.

Thanks Paige for sharing this video of your excellent showjumping round, part of a Pony Club A grade, ODE. Paige had a few 'interesting' rounds earlier this year. I was glad to help recalibrate this lovely team with a few focused lessons.

Here's the last in a series of three videos showing a lesson with young rider, Olivia, on her new dressage mount. He's a little inclined to get fizzy and tense, leading our jockey to get fizzy and tense! In this lesson we worked on relaxing both horse and rider; controlling the pace to a nice steady rhythm; and maintaining a soft frame with self carriage without forcing it. The last video shows the end of the lesson, asking Olivia to take the next step into a canter. She's done a great job in this lesson!

Here's the first in a series of three videos from one lesson with young rider, Olivia, on her new dressage mount. He's a little inclined to get fizzy and tense, leading our jockey to get fizzy and tense! In this lesson we worked on relaxing both horse and rider; controlling the pace to a nice steady rhythm; and maintaining a soft frame with self carriage without forcing it. The first video shows the beginning of the lesson using a simple circle to improve the rhythm and frame.

I look very young here! My Melody was a wonderful mare. These photos show a very ‘different’ jumping position popular at the time - which I corrected later!

Paige shows a big improvement in this clip after we worked on her technique using a guide rail. I'm really pleased with how well Paige is now keeping her horse bouncing and in rhythm up to the fence and giving a nice crest release - which in turn allows her horse to use good technique over the fence.

It's great to make mistakes in a lesson - because your instructor is there to help you learn from it! Talented pupil, Paige, has a small mis-step which gives us the opportunity to talk through a better approach.

Yes I teach beginners! Here's a little clip of 9-year-old Tyrone on a pony who has just started 'working' again after 10 years in a paddock. I focused this lesson on teaching Tyrone techniques for keeping on top of his cheeky pony's plans for world domination. Safety is always the number one priority when working with kids.

It was a pleasure coaching young rider, Georgia, last weekend. We worked on simple exercises to keep her keen mount from taking over and lengthening before each jump. This video shows a big difference at the end of the lesson with Georgia able to control the approach to a fence and therefore keep control afterwards, ready for the next fence.

Riding in a stocksaddle on an untrained horse in a paddock 'arena' during gale force winds didn't deter new adult pupil, Dimity, from learning how to ride a simple grid. Dimity worked really hard in this lesson with a horse that started out either propping or rushing through, to end up achieving a pretty steady rhythm through the grid. Well done Dimity!
