MCC Basketball USA 2023/24

Day 1

So we get to Marist in style with our new Marist USA gear. With all the boys arriving between 9 and 9:15. After getting our beautiful photo and not looking at what camera to smile for we waited around for the bus. As the bus came late we all got on with excitement. As we say and wave goodbye to our parents we set off to Sydney. With the best bus driver on the block, Dave (the bus driver) got us there in record time. Around 1:30 we all walked down to the check in place with lots of stairs from the public. As make our way through the check in with Owen and Brodie having an extra fun experience with the check in, we all moved on together to the security. With ease we moved on through. As all the boys were getting hungry we put our belongings down in gate 10. With the rush to other McDonald’s or KFC the boys tried to find a seat in the busy Sydney Airport. The boys where happy and we where ready to finally bored the 787 Dreamliner to Dallas. After a little mechanical issue we left at 5:20.

Thought the plane trip we all put our favourite movies on and finally realised how long this flight truly is. Personally I (Owen Nihill) went straight to put on barbie. I think everyone was happy after we found out we got ice cream after our dinner. Once the lights went out in the plane boys started to go to sleep one by one. The next couple of hours went fast till everyone was up again for breakfast. With the flight coming to an end everyone was starting to get excited and hyped again for the land in America.

Once we all landed safely, we did one last check for anything we have left behind. Leaving the plane we were on our way to check into customs. But with only around a 1hr wait we moved on through with some us taking photos of the planes. Once we went downstairs to collect our bags we set off in a bus, that took us to our hotel. The drive through Dallas was amazing at night with us realising that everything is bigger in Texas. We made it to our hotel safely and got our rooms. We can all agree that the rooms are amazing. After a quick shower we all set off to get some dinner. After an eventful walk to the wings place we all slowly but surely got our orders in and most of us had our first real American meal. After the lovely dinner we came back to the hotel were we handed in our passports and headed off to bed.
