The team had a solid but cold sleep after the rogaine. They found it hard and finished in about 4 hours. They look good and plan on another sleep in a hut. Adams on Happy Jacks Rd is probably the nearest even though it is locked they might get a bit of verandah shelter.

Here’s a pic to warm hearts. Tony’s bike repaired and ready to shred the trails again. Many many many thanks to Phillip Henshall. Tony will have it when they get off the paddle.

We’re back! This time in the inaugural 500km Legend Expedition Race based in Jindabyne along with fellow Canberra team E Dog and the JJs (head over to Aussie Battlers Adventure Racing to follow their progress). With less than a week until the big dance, the team has been hard at work over summer and thankful to finally do a race that doesn’t involve flying with a metric tonne of gear. With some new recruits to the team this time round, we thought we would introduce ourselves to get you all in the mood for some solid dot-watching!
First up is Indi, team engineer and by extension – bike mechanic. Indi is no stranger to the high country, although normally with a lot more snow and a lot more sending it down steep hills. Fingers crossed only one of those happens next week. Indi is also the designated sun-safe spokesperson for the team at all hours of the day (have to watch out for that moonburn). After a solid nav at last years Inward Bound, Indi will be looking to put those skills to use on the big stage.
Second we have Gus, who has been training the house down in pre-season. Gus has been putting in the hard yards on his enduro hard tail for added resistance so he can keep riding parallel to the median strip for days. Rumour has it he is opting against his blundstones for cycling. Bold play? We’ll have to wait and see. Gus is also no stranger to some bold route choices at times, so the rest of the team need to constantly remind him that doing unnecessary vert just invites disappointment into your life.
Next up is Hannah, the only member lining up for Capital who raced in Cairns. Hannah has been putting in the hard yards over summer in the best possible conditions for an alpine race – western NSW in 40 degrees. Hannah’s experience, combined with her extensive knowledge of northern kosci, will get the team through that tough-looking Long plain* trek. Hannah is also gunning for the title of master caterer with her assortment of weird and wonderful snacks, a title she normally would have in the bag. Although this time, she’ll have competition from Brad.
Finally we have Brad, the other member gunning for catering crown. When he hasn’t been packing way to much food for the whole team let alone himself, Brad has been doing calculations and running simulations on the best way to both transport bikes on kayaks, and working how to mitigate missing the first Team List Tuesday of the year. Sources say his work is currently in the pier-review stage and will be published in due course.
If you want to follow our progress, head over to https://www.legendexpd.com.au/ or the Wild&Co page. We’ll also be posting updates in the leadup including some course predictions so stay tuned!
