Equestrian Park

Equestrian Park is a public park, available for use by horse riders of all disciplines and is available for hire by clubs and instructors.

The park is managed by a subcommittee of ACT Equestrian Association. Equestrian Park and the Cotter Plots, Yarralumla, are managed by the ACT Equestrian Association under Licence from the ACT Government, represented by Sport and Recreation Services Branch, an administrative unit of the Department of Territory and Municipal Services. Update! Thank you to those that packed up the jumps!

Using an area of the park, that's locked, without prior arrangement is stretching the limits of public use. As an act of good faith using the equipment, help packing up would be appreciated.

For those who ride from the park - please note!

EVENT IN MOLONGLO FOREST THIS SUNDAY FROM 0830 - 1030

The ACT Masters Athletics Association will be conducting A run/walk event on Sunday 22 February 2026 using trails in the Molonglo Forest area that intersect with horse trails.

The event will commence at 8:30am and will be completed by 10:30am

The Map below outlines the course. The race commences just over Clos Crossing and uses the main trail into the forest, before looping around as indicated on the map. Check in tables will be set up on the southern bank area of Molonglo River with runners approaching from Harold White Avenue etc.

Runners will be advised to be aware of the possibility of horses and to take caution if they do come across them.

We have secured the damaged areas, so the 2 pads are now available for use! Please note... the xc course is not. Access is available ONLY for riders coming from the underpass.

The three individual arenas and the xc course sustained damage from the storm. THE PARK IS CLOSED until a full assessment of the damage can be completed.

For those who are planning on using the park this weekend, pleae take note.

Our amazing volunteer was going to grade the arenas today, but as riders were using them, he has deferred to tomorrow. If you're a coach who uses the park, it is appreciated that you book and pay for the benefit of using the infrastructure that is maintained and managed by volunteers. This also means that grading can be timed so as to not inconvenience people.

This guy is also pretty awesome - he doesn't even RIDE a horse anymore - yes he's there at every ACTDA competition making sure that all the riders have a top notch surface to ride on!
