Welcome Stephanie Portelli to the mentee program!
Her work at the University of Queensland focuses on analysing genetic mutations using computational techniques, and leveraging insights obtained to develop Artificial Intelligence-based predictors with clinical translation potential.
31/01/2023
Please welcome Shana Portelli to 2022/23!
Her research at The University of Melbourne investigates the role of the cellular prion protein (the key molecule involved in neurodegenerative disorders) in brain cancers, glioma and glioblastoma multiforme.
30/01/2023
Please join us in welcoming Ryan Hickmott to the 2022/23 mentee program!
Ryan's PhD project at RMIT centres on growing brain organoids (mini brains in a dish) to understand how the brain develops its iconic folded surface.
Welcome Ryan! 👏
27/01/2023
Please welcome Natalie Grima to the program!
Her research at Macquarie University aims to identify risk and protective factors associated with sporadic motor neuron disease (MND). She uses cutting-edge analyses to examine patient blood and post-mortem brain samples.
26/01/2023
Nurul Aisha Zainal Abidin joins !
Her PhD at Monash University mainly focuses on investigating novel clotting processes underlying in blood clot formation, which can lead to heart attack and strokes.
She was also involved in the development of ‘Lab on a chip’ technologies with potential applications in discovery of anti-clotting drugs.
25/01/2023
Welcome Neville Fields to the 2022/23 mentee program!
As part of his research at Monash University, Neville is investigating therapeutic affects of sulforaphane, a sulfur-rich compound found in vegetables like broccoli, bok choy, and cabbage, for disorders of oxidative stress in pregnancy such as COVID-19 and preeclampsia.
24/01/2023
Please welcome Margo Jansen to the 2022/23 mentee program!
For her PhD project at UTS College, Margo is combining molecular techniques and animal work with computational analysis to explore the role of chemical systems in the brain.
23/01/2023
Please welcome Macquarie University PhD student Seyed Shahab Oddin Mirshahvaladi to our 2022/23 program!
Shahab is deeply interested in studying Alzheimer’s pathology from a proteomics perspective, analysing the structure and function of relevant proteins, including the way they work and interact with each other inside cells.
20/01/2023
Neke Ibeh joins the 2022/23 program!
Her research at the The University of Melbourne aims to address the knowledge gap in gene regulatory variations often overlooked and under-characterised amongst diverse populations.
This project will show how genetic differences shape health outcomes.
Welcome Neke!👏
19/01/2023
Welcome Laura Trainor to the 2022/23 mentee program!
Her PhD research project at The University of Adelaide focuses on characterising the role of bone marrow cell populations on the progression of multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, from its pre-cancerous stage.
