Sean “Finny” Finn is one of the great supporters of our club, through his support of the First Grade team and of the entire club through his businesses Brindabella Print and Finny’s Scorebooks.
Finny attends every First Grade game supporting the boys through every high and low, providing motivation, encouragement and advice along the way.
Currently Finny is fighting a tough battle against illness, one that has exhausted his personal finances. Never one to ask for help and always the first to put his hand up to help others, Finny needs the help of the community that he loves and has given so much to.
Any donations will be used to help cover essential medical and living costs so that Finny can focus on spending time with family and finding comfort during this difficult time.
No donation is too small and even if you cannot give, sharing the page would be most appreciated by Finny and his family.
If you would like to support, head to the link below and please share the post amongst your community 💙💛

Congratulations to First Grade skipper Nick Wood on winning the 2025/26 DB Robin Medal for the Male Player of the Year! 🦅
Woody had an excellent individual season with two hundreds with the stick and a number of 5 wicket hauls throughout the year! His contributions were vital to the team’s success, standing up when the team needed him most.
He led our First Grade team from the front all year, leading the team to 2 semi-finals this year after a few changes to the side that made the 2-Day Grand Final in 2024/25.
We are so lucky to have a not only a player and leader of Woody’s calibre to lead our club, but a fantastic human being as well.
Congratulations again Woody! A well deserved honour for an excellent player, leader, and human being! 🦅🏆
DB Robin Medal

REPRESENTATIVE SUCCESS - ACT UNDER 15’S 🦅
Three of our junior players, Isaac, Kunwar and Mitch have been in WA with the ACT U/15 at the National Carnival.
The ACT boys won 4 out of 6 games beating QLD and WA along the way for ACT’s best result for many years in the U/15s.
Kunwar excelled with the bat (182 runs at 36.4) and ball (11 wicket at 12.6) and showed great leadership in the field. Kunwar was third in the MVP stakes for the competition.
Isaac batted at the top of the order and turned the momentum against QLD with his aggression to set up the ACT for a great win. In doing so Isaac showed he is a force at the national level.
Mitch also excelled, scoring the third most runs (202 runs at 67.3) in the carnival and was selected in the all Australian team from the carnival along with Luc Tipping also from the ACT.
Congratulations boys, great effort!

North Canberra Gungahlin Cricket Club (NCGCC) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Life Member, Denis Axelby, this week.
Denis’s journey in Canberra cricket began in the 1950s with the Ainslie Cricket Club. By 1966, he had stepped into the role of Treasurer, a position he held with unwavering dedication for an extraordinary 33 consecutive seasons. He navigated the club through its evolution into the City District Cricket Club and, finally, into the NCGCC we know today. Alongside his brother Ron, who served as Secretary, Denis provided the off-field stability that ensured the club’s success for decades.
Across his time on the field with City and NCGCC, Denis achieved:
6,507 runs, including 20 half-centuries and a top score of 80*.
967 wickets, featuring 25 five-wicket hauls.
255 catches and a solitary stumping.
He remains one of only three players in club history to take 10 wickets in a match twice, with career-best innings figures of 7/30 and match figures of 11/48. During his tenure at the City District Cricket Club, Denis was the leading player for both runs and catches.
Denis played approximately 300 games for City prior to the merger and a further 369 games for NCGCC, placing him third on the club’s all-time appearance list. He was also heavily involved in the junior side of the club, dedicating years to coaching, umpiring, scoring, and organising.
His success extended into Over-60s cricket, where he represented the ACT in interstate tournaments and earned selection for Australian teams touring England and New Zealand. Denis played in Over-60s One Day Internationals, including a dramatic tie between Australia and England in Sydney.
Denis (along with Ron) also displayed his skill at softball; in 1986, both brothers were chosen for the inaugural ACT Men's Open team to compete in the Australian Championships. Denis further competed in softball at three World Masters Games.
Awarded Life Membership at City (1978/79) and NCGCC (1988/89), Denis was a constant, friendly presence who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with Helene, Luke, Adam, Heath, and the entire Axelby family.
All players for NCGCC will take to the field this weekend wearing black armbands to commemorate the life of Denis, and to recognise his contribution to the club.
