Another great NAS tournament on the weekend and another great outcome for Northside Traditional Taekwon-Do.
With some clean sweeps of the boards and everyone from our dojo claiming medals, it was an awesome day.
Zara Capner had a clean sweep with 1st place wins in weapons, forms, points and continuous sparring.
Harper Kaines also maintained victory with 1st places in forms, points and continuous sparring.
Aubree Kaines outdid herself placing 1st in both the continuous and points sparring.
Constantina Portelli shone by coming second in points sparring, 3rd in continuous (with some sizeable opponents) and 3rd in forms.
For Jith's first time in a tournament, he excelled with a 1st in continuous sparring and a 3rd in forms.
It was also Amanda Yu's first attempt in the ring and won hearts with her 2nd place in points sparring and a 3rd place in forms (against a number of competitors).
Jasper Yu also proved he was a challenge with a 1st place in forms.
While everyone from our small dojo who attended outdid themselves, it was me who was a winner, getting to see you all perform at your peak, being humble in your placements and being the recipient of so many comments about your attitude, fortitude, style and grace. It was truly humbling.
Congratulations to you all, very well deserved and thanks for doing the dojo proud.

Our first tournament for the year, done.
While only a small contingent this time, Harper and Constantina dominated their events.
Harper placed first in the continuous sparring and second in the weapons division against some significant and experienced competitors. Harper also placed fourth in the forms event.
Constantina placed second in the forms and made a took a phenomenal two first places in the points and continuous sparring events against much bigger, older and more experienced opponents.
Congratulations to you both for your excellent achievements, spirit and representation of our school. As usual, we are all really proud of you both.
Thanks also to Zara for coming along and assisting with the day.
Myself and Black Belt Joshua also spent the day refereeing which was great fun,
With the National titles soon to be coming up, now is the time for everyone to commit to their practice and show what you can do!
Let's try and get a big group going next time!
See you next week.
