Darcy James is heading to the World Uni Championships!

Darcy has been selected to represent Australia in the Men’s Single at the 2026 FISU World University Rowing Championships in Canada. Fresh off a medal at the Australian Rowing Championships and a win at the Oceania U22 Championships!

Session 3 of CRC’s trial tinny-training program is in the books. New drivers tackled fine-control maneuvering, including the always-tricky task of picking up floating objects. Great to see CRC members stepping up and helping each other rise to the challenge.

Today on the King’s Birthday, Lieutenant Commander Kym Desmond Fisher has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List.

Kym has dedicated more than 25 years to rowing as a coach, including nearly two decades coaching ADF, ADFA and crews right here at Canberra Rowing Club. His commitment to developing athletes and fostering a love of the sport across both defence and community programs is a huge part of what makes this club special. A well deserved honour, congratulations Kym!

AUS MASTERS 2026

A strong performance from CRC at the Australian Masters Championships in Perth.

There was a number of fourth place finishes and competitive racing across multiple disciplines.

Challenging conditions saw the Perth to Fremantle head race cancelled, but the team adapted well and delivered across the sprint program.

A solid showing and a result the club can be proud of.

Huge congratulations to Cara on the Women’s Single, and to Ross Jenkins, Tony Wilkes & Darrell Ninham on the Volunteer Award at the Rowing ACT Season Presentation!

Tomorrow, 8 of our own hit the water in Queensland for the 2026 U22 Oceania Teams Rowing Championships!

Jesse Rosin, James Robson, Darcy James, Dylan Outram, Angus Scott, Ben Haywood, Cameron Schmidt and Harry Braithwaite are racing the Eight for the ACT. Go show them what CRC is made of boys!

Big thanks to coaches Tom Westgarth and Kendal Brodie for all the work they’ve put in to get this crew to an international stage.

Good luck to all the other athletes racing under the ACT banner tomorrow too, we’re cheering just as loud for you.

Rowing ACT is sad to announce our Executive Officer, Sarah Davoren has made the decision to resign from her role to pursue a position with the ACT Brumbies as Events and Operations Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for Sarah, and one we are confident she will do well in, after nearly 5 years with Rowing ACT and 3 years since she stepped into the Acting Executive Officer role. Sarah will finish up with Rowing ACT on May 15th 2026.

Huge congratulations to Cormac Hayes on being selected for the Rowing Australia team in the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four (4+).

After an outstanding Nationals campaign, this selection is a well-earned reward for the hard work, grit and determination shown all season. Everyone at Canberra Rowing Club is incredibly proud and excited to see you represent on the world stage.

A special mention as well to Darcy James, who narrowly missed out on U23 selection after a strong campaign. A fantastic effort and something to build on moving forward.
