Yanru Zhao teaches our Thursday Evening Intermediate Ballet and Pointe classes.

Yanru’s classes combine strong technical foundations with musicality, expression and individuality. Her focus is on musical interpretation, dynamics, emotional expression and helping each dancer develop their own movement quality.

Lesson 1 - Sunday 25 October
Lesson 2 - Saturday 7 November (8.30am to 9.30am)
Lesson 3 - Sunday 22 November
Lesson 4 - Sunday 13 December
The class time for the above dates is 3-4pm except for the class on 7 November.
Location: Canberra Dance Theatre, 1 Kingsley St, Canberra city.

👯‍♀️ We learn a fully choreographed hula dance in the 4 classes - this term we will be learning a Christmas hula ~ Rockin around the Christmas tree!
🏠 We are a sister school of our Hawaiian hula dance school - He Makana O Aloha in Honolulu!

Our hula teacher teaches in Canberra and Sydney so classes are mostly fortnightly.

Course price is: $111 (either online or in person). Early bird discount of $5 off the course price if paid by 2 October 2026. Drop in tickets are $32

If you purchase the course you will get recordings of each class. The recordings will come from our online classes. If you miss an online or in person class you are welcome to swap the online class for an in person class or vice versa.

CLOTHING THE LOOP RETURNS IN NOVEMBER
Australian Dance Party bring back Clothing the Loop: Circular Design Festival ion the weekend of November 6-7th.
This is a meeting point for fashion, activism, performance, and purpose. A multi-faceted event celebrating sustainability across industries, Australian Dance Party and co-producer Keli Studio are reinventing this event for its new venue at the CIT Woden Campus.

The Friday Evening Spectacular will be a glamorous event, showcasing sustainable fashion collections from leading local and national designers, including First Nations label, Corella & Crow and Australia fashion icon, Linda Jackson OAM. Explore captivating displays and circular design stalls, hear from inspiring change makers, watch stunning contemporary dance by Australian Dance Party, and dance the night away.

On Saturday, we invite you to get hands-on with the future of design. Workshops explore repurposing materials, building basic sewing skills, and creative textiles. Panels discuss sustainable practices across fashion, architecture / interiors, and performance. Key speakers include Linda Jackson OAM, Clodagh Crow (ABC Play School), and Thor Diesendorf (Thor's Hammer).

Clothing the Loop celebrates Canberra’s place as a City of Design, innovation, and climate-conscious culture and is presented in partnership with Canberra Institute of Technology. The festival gathers diverse designers, artists, and the community in a shared act of creative dissent, it highlights how art and design can challenge systems, inspire dialogue, and spark real change.

JOIN CANBERRA'S BIGGEST NUTBUSH!

DANCERS' HELP NEEDED: Our neighbours at the Conservation Council are asking CDT dancers to assist them in making this Nutbush a success. CDT dancers are asked to help get the crowd into lines for the dance and then encourage people to get into the dancing! If you can help on the day please contact the CDT office: [email protected]
