Our boys put up an incredible performance in the Final against Green Hawks, finishing strong with a total of 201/5 and defending it brilliantly to secure the title. 💪

🔥 Batting Highlights:
• Riaz Uddin – a blazing 53 (32) with 7 fours!
• Muhammad Saif Shafqat – solid 45 (32) at a strike rate of 140+.
• Mushtaq Khattak – explosive 29 (13) at a strike rate of 223.08!

Every Melbourne Star bowler stepped up to the challenge!
• Ali Moazzam – miserly spell of 1/15 in 4 overs (econ 3.75).
• Nabeel Rasheed – 1/7 in 2 overs, top economy 3.50.

We kicked off our Winter Season T20 Tournament with a thrilling encounter against one of the best teams in Canberra, Queanbeyan Tigers, and what a match it was!

A warm welcome to our newest Melbourne Stars Muhammad Haroon, Faiz Sohail, and Ali Moazzam, who made their debut in style and played match-winning roles.

Batting first, our openers Riaz Uddin (32 off 14) and Hamid Mehmood (31 off 20) provided a flying start, setting the foundation for a massive total.

In the middle order, Muhammad Haroon (27 off 24) and Faiz Sohail (68 off 40) played a sensible yet sensational partnership, ensuring the momentum continued. Faiz was the standout performer, taking charge of the innings and smashing a brilliant 68, guiding us to a total of 208/5 in 20 overs.

While Queanbeyan Tigers got off to a master blaster start, our bowlers Faiz and Ali Moazzam turned the game around with their exceptional, unplayable spells. Their impact changed the course of the match, securing our first win of the season!

The Melbourne Star ⭐️ Cricket Club has done it—we are the champions 🏆 of the Master Blasters Cricket League!!

In a thrilling grand final against Queanbeyan Tigers, Melbourne Star 🌟 won the toss and chose to bat first. Our opening pair, Riaz and Tayyab, gave us a solid start, with Tayyab smashing an outstanding 53 off just 23 balls. Saif followed with a crucial 29-run innings, but it was our MVP of the Grand Final Mushtaq Khatak who truly shone. Contributing with both bat and ball, he scored an exceptional 38 off 22 balls, including one boundary and three massive sixes, keeping the momentum alive even as we lost a few key wickets. Ashish and Ilyas then stepped up with an outstanding finishing partnership, taking our total to a formidable 197/8 in 20 overs.

Our bowling attack was relentless. Maaz opened with fierce and unplayable deliveries, taking an early wicket that set the tone for the match. Mushtaq, fresh off his excellent batting, was equally impressive with the ball, earning him the MVP award for his figures of 24 for 1. Captain Nabeel Aslam kept the pressure on with a crucial wicket, while our spinners Nabeel Rasheed and Ashish slowed down the Tigers in the middle overs. Maaz returned to break an important partnership, finishing with figures of 35 for 2, and Ashish ended his spell with 34 for 1. The Queanbeyan Tigers couldn't chase down our total in 20 overs, and Melbourne Star emerged victorious! 🏆🙌
