Tristen turned 16 this week and levelled up after 10 years on the mats.
I’ve watched him grow through every stage — learning how to train properly, how to handle setbacks, and how to keep showing up with the right attitude. The belt is earned, but the real value is in the work behind it.
He’s already capable of holding his own with experienced adult black belts in the room, which comes from consistency, coachability, and time invested — not shortcuts.
He’s got a big future ahead of him in jiu-jitsu and, more importantly, in whatever he chooses to do. Proud of the young man he’s becoming. This is just another step 👊

🇦🇺 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the 2025 Australian Masters Games – Officially On! 🥋🔥

We’re proud to announce that BJJ is making its debut at the 20th Australian Masters Games – and it’s going to be big. For the first time, we’ve secured the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra as our venue, and we’re running in partnership with the Australian Grappling Association to bring you the highest standard of refereeing and event oversight.

🗓 Competition Day: Sunday, 19 October 2025
📍 Venue: Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra, ACT
👥 Divisions: White to Black Belt, ages 30+

This is more than just a comp – it’s a week-long celebration of sport with over 40 different sports running alongside BJJ. Your Games registration includes:

Entry to opening and closing ceremonies (with live music!)

A goodie bag with gear

Access to other sports like wrestling, judo, boxing – all happening at the same venue on consecutive days

Social events throughout the week
