AMG CANBERRA - MEDAL DAY!!!

Apologies for the late post. Yesterday was the last day of the 2025 Australian Masters and we were fortunate enough to have both our teams make it to a gold medal match.

First up for the day was CA2 against Bruisers, a local team, with one player in particular that people may recognise - Ginny!!! While we tried to abduct Ginny and hold her captive until CA1 played, Ginny’s training assisted her in breaking free and eventually pushing Bruisers to a win. Unfortunately the bats didn’t work for our ladies and a few errors snuck in while fielding. The ladies went down 7-3 and bring home the silver.

Then it was time for CA1 to face Has Beens, another local team. Luckily Ginny was on our side this time, however similar to CA2, the bats didn’t seem to work as well for us as they did for Has Beens, and a few sneaky errors put us on the back foot. The ladies clearly took a page from the CA2 playbook and also went down with a 7-3 score line, to bring home the silver.

That’s a wrap for the 2025 Australian Masters. There was plenty of laughs, some new friendships, some great plays and lots of dirty laundry. Safe travels for everyone heading home.

AMG CANBERRA - DAY 7

A late start today with CA2 kicking off games at 1pm against Phoenix. The game started a little slowly and with a few fielding errors, however the bats seemed to be working for our ladies, and with two auto home runs from Andy, put them in front. They stayed in front until the top of the 5th when Phoenix came out swinging and managed to claw their way in front before declaring and putting the ladies back into bat. A walk, a single and a double with the bats and the ladies managed to even the score. However, time was not on our side, and time was called, resulting in a draw.

This was the last of the round games. CA2 will be playing for gold at 9:40am tomorrow morning!!!

CA1 played their last round game today against Has Beens who started the game with some solid batting as well as some fly balls to Deb, our ball magnet in centre field. However, not to be outdone, our ladies came out swinging with the bats, along with some swift running and the scorer was kept on her toes colouring in. The ladies managed to keep it tight in the field while still scoring runs, including another home run by Sara, finishing the game with a 13-5 win.

CA1 finished top of the table and will be playing for gold at 2:40pm tomorrow.

Pending no tech issues, both of these games will be live streamed for those who are interested.

AMG CANBERRA - DAY 6

A bit of a sleep in today with the first game at 9:40am. CA2 facing Shots Up. The ladies started the game with the bats swinging, stringing some runs together and batting through the line up. A good head start and deflated Shots Up who struggled to get on base, even with a couple of fielding errors sneaking in. The ladies went out hitting again, but the runs slowed a little. Shots Up struggled the entire game to get runners on base. The ladies took out the win with a 10-0 score.

Next up, CA2 playing Canberra Classics Gold and we started batting again with some great hits including another home run from Deb and a few runs in. Classics came out in a similar fashion putting themselves just in front. Our ladies slowed with runs but Classics chipped away and a few errors from our side that didn’t help. The ladies managed to close the gap however they were beaten by the clock and the score reverted back ending in a 10-7 loss.

Night game for CA1 against Eastern Raiders. CA1 kept the field tight showing their dominance and allowing limited players on base for the first 3 innings. A slower start with the bats in the first dig before letting loose with some swift running and another batting display including another home run, and the retention of the “home run bling” by Courtney. Game finished in under an hour with a score of 13-1.

This game was live streamed and is on the page if anyone is interested.

AMG CANBERRA - DAY 5

Yet another early start to the day with CA2 against Fusion. Ladies started well with a couple of hits strung together including a home run by Deb. The enemy also came out swinging and managed to claw in front of our ladies. It continued as a tight game, scoreless on both sides until the ladies climbed back in contention. Our ladies were fielding last and the opposition managed to bring in a few more runs, finishing the game with a 7-4 loss.

Straight into the next game against All Stars. The ladies were warm from the first game and kept All Stars scoreless the entire game. The game was tight, however the ladies realised that if you don’t bat, you can’t score. Then the bats started swinging. Better late than never and our ladies came home with a 10-0 win!!!

While CA1 managed to have a sleep in, it was detrimental as the clouds had started to roll in, and so did the rain. First up was Benchwarmers Pink who came out swinging with their first batter hitting a home run. But this is where their scoring stopped. The ladies kept them scoreless for the rest of the game, while they managed to use the game as batting practice. Some big hits from most of the ladies, with the most memorable being from Nikki, hitting to right field, who missed the ball and Nikki took the opportunity to run, run and run, all the way home. Another good 16-1 win!!

A game break while the clouds continued to roll in and then back out to face Wildcats. The rains came and so did the runs. Our ladies were ruthless in the field, keeping the Wildcats caged and not allowing any of them to cross home plate. This kept the Wildcats out in the rain and the team capitalised running the bases through the mud and relentless in their scoring. Another home run from Courtney and some big hits combined to result in a 16-0 win.

AMG CANBERRA - DAY 4

Another early start with CA2 against Phoenix at 8am 😩😩. The ladies came out swinging, keeping the scorer on her toes colouring in. Phoenix responded with a couple of runs before keeping our ladies without score for a couple of innings. The ladies kept clawing their way round with the bats winning each innings, coming off with a 7-4 win in the end.

Double header and back into it against Bruisers. The ladies continued with the bats scoring 8 runs in the first dig. A couple of errors crept in however we kept Bruisers with minimal runs. Lucky for the head start in the first dig as the ladies slowed with the bats but Bruisers batted a couple each innings closing the gap and finishing with a 9-9 draw.

A bit of a break before CA1 were back to play Caboolture Angels, and the end of round one. A bit of a slow start before the bats started working and the runs began to flow including a clean home run from Debbie. It wasn’t just the bats working, with the fielding holding the Angels to one turn at bat each. In fact Angels did end up doing the bases with their pants down, all in good spirit. A quick 15-0 win in just 43 minutes!!

Another break before heading back to meet Gawler Masters to start round two, and what a way to start. Clearly the “home run bling” is popular and definitely got shared around in this game with not one, not two but three home runs from Sara, one from Debbie and one from Yelena. Not to forget triples from Courtney and Katy and some ‘down in the dirt’ running from the ladies. Ginny also displayed her dominance on the mound by pitching a total of 21 strikes and 3 balls for the entire game!! The impressive display of power hitting, combined with an error free fielding display and the game was a 16-0 win in a mere 37 minutes. Perfect way to start round two!!!

AMG CANBERRA - DAY 3

Early start to the day with CA1 against Eastern Raiders. Started out with a couple of hits to the outfield and with the assistance from some errors, a few runs came in. The ladies kept the field tight with 1 run over the plate after 2 innings. Bats worked well with triples for Sara and Yelz and a home run for Irene! Finished the game with a 10-2 win.

Quick move and into the next game against Has Beens. A tight game all round with some phenomenal fielding from the enemy who held out our ladies from scoring until the top of the 5th where they managed to string a few hits together, but not quite enough. Court is hoping that someone will do her washing after playing in the dirt and taking a diving tag at third base!! Game ended in a tie 3-3 making for an interesting match up next round.

A few hours break and back to the park for CA2 against Shots Up. Started the game with a tight field and keeping most hits to the infield and stopping runners from scoring. Bats were working for our ladies with the scorer having to colour in lots of runs each batting dig. Mel hit a cracker that would have been an auto home run, but was caught right on the cones by the enemy. Continued to keep the fielding tight and finishing with a win 11-4.

AMG CANBERRA - DAY 2

CA1 started off today’s games against Wildcats, a local team. Batting didn’t start too well, and fielding started a little on the wild side, just to keep things entertaining. But then the bats started working with some good outfield hits, a sacrifice and solid running. Fielding improved putting the ladies back in for an opportunity to bat, and bat they did. Wildcats did manage an auto however it was too late. CA1 came away with a solid win at 12-5.

A bit of a break and then it was CA2 against Fusion 45’s. A slow start for the ladies spending way too long in the field and let in way too many runs. However, they didn’t give up. They slowly closed the gap and followed up with some solid fielding. Despite the slow start, the ladies clawed their way back to within 1 run scoring 10 runs in the 3rd innings, however the damage had been done in the 1st and the ladies went down 14-15.

There was a bit of a break to reflect before heading in to the last game for the day. CA2 finished the day against Canberra Classics. A few errors snuck in to the fielding in the first innings, allowing the enemy to score a few runs. Time to bat and the pitcher was a bit erratic, walking our first four batters and helping out our score. The errors in the field settled slowing down the run rate for the opposition before heading back in to bat. A couple of big hits through the cones for Deb and over the cones for Leanne and the scorer was hastily colouring in. Game was tied at 7-7 when Classics managed to pull off a cracker over the cones putting themselves in front and declaring. However, time was not on their side. Time ran out and the draw was the final result.

AMG CANBERRA - DAY 1

First game of the tournament started with CA2 playing against Bruisers. A slow start to the tournament, struggling a bit with the bat. Hitting the ball, but finding fielders. Went down 4-1.

Highlight of this game was the introduction of the CA2 “Bat Boy”. Phil is still in training but will nail it by the end of the week!!

CA2 played against All Stars in their second game. Bats worked a bit better this game with some hits to spaces and a home run by Deb. Bats working combined with a couple of errors to help the ladies out, they finished up with a 22-1 win!!

Time to hand over the games to CA1 who started off their week against Gawler Masters. Not only did Ginny pitch like a champion, but she cleaned up with a home run. Finished the game early with a 13-3 win.

Back to back games playing against Benchwarmers Pink. Yelz got a chance to show off her style on the mound and Courtney managed to throw out the home run challenge taking the “bling” from Ginny and hanging onto it for herself. Another quick game with a 10-0 win.

There seemed to be something/someone missing today. Not sure I can quite put my finger on what/who it was, but I’m sure it will come, if we give it a bit of time??? 🤔✈️

Photos from Camira Softball Club & Camira Amigos Masters Softball's post 17/08/2025

A massive day today with the first week of finals and all three Camira teams were playing. Luckily, all teams were playing in the 1 vs 2 meaning a win would give them a week off before Grand Finals.

The day started off with Alphas and Arimac playing. Alphas game was close the entire time, but they pulled off the win in the bottom of the 6th leaping into the Grand Final with a 4-3 win.

Arimac decided to give the coaches a few more grey hairs, starting the bottom of the last innings with a healthy lead, but letting a few of the opposition in, closing the gap, however, they kept their cool and finished with a 17-14 win!!!

Aces turn and it was a close game the whole time. In fact, they managed to take it to two tie breakers and a total game time of 2hrs 45mins!!!! Awesome game to watch, some spectators may have had a few too many drinks given the length of the game, but the girls toughed it out and came away with another win!!

All teams have earned the week off next week to rest up and be ready for Grand Finals. Good luck to all teams.
