Together with the NRAA, Canberra Rifle Club is calling on every lawful fi****ms owner to take immediate action by signing the petition.

This is not about politics. It is about ensuring lawful fi****ms owners, clubs and communities are properly heard in a process that is moving quickly, with significant measures being considered at the federal level.

A petition is one of the simplest and most visible ways individuals can register concern directly and respectfully through the Parliamentary process. It is a clear, measurable signal that the lawful community is engaged and expects proper scrutiny and consultation.

If you have not yet signed, please do so today and share the link through your broader networks.

✍️🟒🟑 SIGN OUR PETITION 🟒🟑✍️

The Albanese Labor Government thinks the Bondi Terror Attack was caused by guns.

It wasn’t the gun that pulled the trigger, it was Islamic Extremism, which has festered for too long in our suburbs.

It is critical that you sign our petition to protect the rights of law-abiding firearm holders, like myself, from the legislation being debated early next week.

Let’s take a stand together.

NRAA Update: Consolidated Submission Lodged

The National Rifle Association of Australia has lodged a consolidated submission to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security in response to the Exposure Draft Combatting Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill 2026, with our comments confined to the fi****ms measures.

This submission reflects a united national position, developed with input from State and Territory associations. Across the sport, we are aligned on the importance of responsible, lawful fi****ms ownership, safety-first practice, and reforms that are targeted, evidence-based and workable.

If you would like guidance on how to advocate constructively within your community or with local elected representatives, please contact your State or Territory association for advice and the appropriate channels.

NRAA will continue to engage respectfully through formal processes and keep members informed as the review progresses.

A Short History

Canberra Rifle Club is the city’s oldest surviving sporting body. It can trace its conception to a report in The Queanbeyan Age newspaper of 6 May 1913 that β€œthere was a representative gathering of riflemen at the residence of Mr Hector McIntosh, Canberra, on Saturday last, to discuss the proposal of forming a rifle club at that place…”

Previous rifle ranges were located at the present sites of the Black Mountain Peninsula Picnic Grounds and the Mt Ainslie Summit Road.

The Club’s present facilities, located in the Majura Valley, were opened in September 1969. It is named the McIntosh Rifle Range after Jim McIntosh OAM (1913-2003) the Canberra pioneer family that has been closely associated with the Club since its formation.
