It was the Fantastic Four this morning ( yes, only four! feeling lonely😂). The ever popular Mills Road East was on the agenda for today. Despite a forecast of rain, there was not a drop in site nor on the road. It was however quite cold but with minimal wind so all up, today turned out to be some of the best conditions to take on Mills Road East. This being the case, we took full advantage of the conditions , enjoying not having to battle against persistent head winds. The Coffee Club was today’s stop however as they are under renovation we decided to head to the Mason and Bird (Mason & Bird), one TRC has not frequented for a while. Things were as we remember and both the coffee and muffins were spot on today and with fast friendly service I feel a 4/5 Cogs is on the cards! We headed back out to what was a pretty chilly descent down the Zig Zag and back towards Berkshire Road. Here , the group spilt, each heading their own way home. All up, one of the best runs TRC has had on MR East!

It was the return of the old and coming of new today at the TRC Fremantle Foray. TRC Texan Associate, Ryan Crawford was back in town. Here to renew his families Visa’s so they don’t have to make an illegal border crossing in the middle of night!😂. We also had a new rider today making their TRC debut ( no Visa required!), Ian, who is a friend of Peter Feller’s. Welcome Ian, and we hoped you enjoyed the ride today. Also back in the group today was the Mighty Mike Moohan. Getting ready for the upcoming Boddington State Road Championship. Low winds and a good temperature made for some good riding conditions. We had some good pushes throughout today with the bulk of the group staying together for most of the ride. We attempted to get into The Little Banksia today for coffee however it was fairly packed. We then headed into East Vic Park with Modus in mind for coffee. This too was somewhat busy, so we ended up two stores down at Zonts (Zont's Bakehouse)The first time for TRC, Zonts is friendly, has good coffee and quite a variety of in house fresh baked items. A solid 4/5 Cogs for a first hit out! From here people either headed back to the store or made their own way home. All up, a great day out for TRC.

Congratulations to Kelly ( aka The Big Dawg!) Quartermaine for completing the Around the Bay in a Day in Melbourne. 220km and 1000m of climbing. That qualifies for a big day out !

Seven “fear not, it won’t rain” riders were present this morning to take on Reverse Zig Zag. True to their thought, it didn’t rain! Certainly the roads were wet (yet another bike clean down !), but no rain. Additionally, not a lot of wind either. We were a few minutes late this morning to kick things off as El Pres was taken down, momentarily, by the affects of a Rendang Curry last nit ( it is tasty though!). Once up and running, the sun came out and it turned out we were in for a nice morning out! We had a steady climb up the Zig Zag and into Kalamunda and then picked things up a little through Canning Mills Road. All arrived in one piece at Hidden Cafe (Hidden Specialty Coffee) where we met up with the Big Dawg himself after a morning trainer workout. Kelly heads out to Melbourne for the “Around the Bay in a Day” event next weekend. Best of luck Kelly! Hidden is definitely proving to be a consistent performer in terms of ratings. Another 5/5 Cogs is a worthy rating! All done, TRC had places to be so we headed home via Corfield and Spencer which we gave a good run.

All up, definitely glad to get out today !

It was a date for eight this morning as we made ready for the Armadale route. And, what a great day for it. Clear, sunny sky’s and finally not a lot of wind! We headed out and unfortunately Gareth suffered a rear spoke blow out in the first 3 km. Fortunately, we were close to home and the Pauline team car was not too far away!What the Lord taketh away, he can also give! A little further down Albany Hwy we came across Mike Moohan ready and waiting for the group! We forged on for a solid ride as the Armadale route has some good consistent stretches with minimal stopping points. Being such a fine day, the bike path directly along the river front was busy and as such we had to apply due caution as we headed into Social Manna for our coffee stop. Also due to the good weather, the Manna was cranking however this did not stop the orders coming out quickly with the normal friendly service. The 5/5 Cog rating is retained! All done for the day we headed back . A solid day of riding with some great weather. We will take that any day!

Seven hardy TRC wind warriors turned up this morning ready for the Welshpool Road route. The ride conditions? Windy and… Windy! If the gusts weren’t ever present it probably would not have been that bad but of course what fun would that have been?! All agreed that some of the gusts were the worst we have experienced for some time. At times ( especially at the top of the Zig Zag) it felt like we would be blown off the road and bike! However it takes quite something to keep a TRC rider down and we all made it through to coffee in one piece and upright! Coffee today was courtesy of Gracie’s Cafe (Gracie's Cafe). Always fast and friendly service and good muffins - these were popular today! 4/5 Cogs. We had a pleasant surprise during coffee today by the return of Triple P (Pistol, Puncture, Pylon - for those who don’t know the history) Pete! Back in town for a few months , retirement seems to be treating Pete well! Good to see you again Pete and catch up on what is going on in your world. A reminder to any TRC riders past or present, if you are not riding you are always welcome to join us for coffee. After a good catch up, we decided to head out again as despite the wind being strong it was also cold - all day! All up, despite conditions, it was a solid effort today by all.

Commiserations to the Dockers. They played a solid game just missing out in the end.

It was the TRC Ten this morning ( and Dockers post game review committee!) ready to tackle a very windy Cottesloe. Possibly some of the strongest winds and gusts we have experienced for a while. It was either a solid headwind or it was being blown around ( literally!) when we were on the Cottesloe coast line. Despite this we maintained a reasonable group however the winds did slow things down a bit and as such we did have a slight route variation in order to maintain Towie Time! We were successful in this pursuit and arrived at the Little Banksia (The Little Banksia) on time and ready for coffee. Always very accommodating ( they always organise additional chairs for us😊), we were seated and coffee’s started rolling out as soon as we sat down. The eats all had a good vote today with the muffins , cinnamon scrolls and friands all scoring highly! It’s hard to fault so 5/5 Cogs it is! All done and wanting to make sure we stayed rain free ( we did all the way round - Mrs El Pres did report some heavy showers at the Presidential residence however we had none of this !), we headed off with 5 going one way and 5 heading back to the store. A windy but safe ride and always good to be able to get out.

It was the Famous Five of TRC today rocking up for a very windy but surprisingly dry day for Reverse Waterwheel. For once, the weather forecast was spot on! Rain from 0500 to 0700 and then sunny! We were fortunate heading towards the hills to literally run the rain out and as such did not get rained on. The same can not be said for the wind. 25km/hr winds with 35 to 37 gusts. For some reason and to never be explained, we had a head wind all the way round. You know it’s a decent head wind when you have to pedal to go down Albany Hwy!! Despite this, we made it round in one piece in reasonable time to arrive at Hidden Cafe (Hidden Specialty Coffee) for a well deserved coffee. I have said it before but Hidden is becoming a highly consistent performer. Great coffee, food and fast friendly service. 5/5 Cog Rating!
We made our way home via the back route. All agree that it would be nice not to have to make the initial climb after coffee but it is what it is! A windy but solid and successful day out. Safe travels to Craige who is heading to KL for a couple of weeks ( double down on the Durian! 👃!!😂).

It was nine on time and feeling fine today for the Spearwood TRC route. Social Manna (Social Manna) was booked and we were good to go! Clouds threatened however we missed the rain aside from a very brief (“passing”!) shower. The wind did pick up towards the end but otherwise we had a good solid ride with very minimal stops ( re-groups and lights ). This made for some solid riding enjoyed by all today. We pulled into Social Manna for our coffee stop. Here we said goodbye to Mike S for the day as he was not feeling the best. Great work for hanging in today Mike. Rest up and see you next week. Social Manna was as good as usual. 5/5Cogs! Not wanting to hang around too long in case the rain came on sooner, we headed off. We ended up missing the rain ( still waiting for the big down pour!) and all up it was a good day out for a ride !
