📣 WE’RE LOOKING FOR A TREASURER & SECRETARY

Mackay District Junior Rugby Union is looking for two people to join our volunteer committee and help support the continued growth of junior rugby across the region.

These are practical, manageable roles, with the committee meeting online once per month.

1. Treasurer - Help oversee our finances, budgeting and basic financial reporting.
2. Secretary - Help coordinate meeting agendas and minutes, correspondence and committee communication.

You don’t need to have a rugby background — we’re simply looking for reliable, community-minded people who would like to contribute and help us build a strong future for junior rugby across Mackay, Whitsunday, Bowen and Moranbah.

Mackay District Junior Rugby Union, in partnership with Queensland Rugby and Mackay Referees, is seeking expressions of interest from Bowen Rugby Union Inc., Mackay City Rugby Union Club, Slade Point Rugby Union Mackay, Mackay Brothers Rugby Union, Moranbah Bulls Rugby Union Club and Whitsunday Raiders Junior Rugby Union for the establishment of a Junior Referee Academy.

The Academy is aimed at aspiring match officials aged 12 and over, while also welcoming adults who are beginning their refereeing journey.

Through education, mentoring and practical match experience, the Academy will help participants develop confidence and officiating skills, strengthen referee participation across the region, and create a pathway into Mackay Referees and higher-level officiating opportunities.

Participants who complete the program will receive a QRU Junior Referee Academy Certificate. Eligible participants may also be able to count their involvement towards the Skills section of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

Happy Monday everyone!

This week is our last week of “come and try” rugby. ALL players must be registered by 15th August. If you are experiencing issues with registration please contact your team manager.

Uniforms are on track to be delivered this week. We are hoping to issue them at Fridays training sessions, providing they arrive on time. We will keep you updated on this.

5:30pm - U14s, U16s and GIRLS teams

👕 NEW Under Armour training kits are included in your registration and are due to arrive in a couple of weeks time, exact dates of collection will be provided shortly.
