❤️🤍 WHAT A DAY, SOUTHY! 🤍❤️

What an absolutely perfect day we had on Sunday celebrating our Miniroos ☀️⚽️

The sun was shining, the kids were happy and there were smiles everywhere. It was one of those days that reminds you just how special community clubs like ours really are ❤️

And days like that only happen because people show up, pitch in and give their time.

To our volunteer game leaders and players who helped with all the punch card goodies, thank you for bringing the energy, the smiles and making the day fun for the kids 😃

To our awesome canteen ladies, thank you for everything you have done all season and again on Sunday. Your weekly help never goes unnoticed ❤️

To our BBQ champions, you were so efficient at one point you had to slow down 🤣👏🏼 Absolute legends.

To our coaches and managers. Thank you for everything you give your teams all season. The training, organising, encouraging, game days, messages and all those little things people don’t always see. You help our kids feel supported, included and excited to come back each week ❤️🤍⚽️

And to our Southy committee, the small group behind the scenes giving days to this club every week, almost all year round.

Teams, registrations, uniforms, equipment, training schedules, grounds, canteen, events, messages, paperwork… the list never really ends 😂

And once again, everyone pulled together to create another amazing Presentation Day for our Miniroos.

We see you. We appreciate you. And we thank you.

Southy simply would not exist without volunteers.

We are so incredibly proud of the community this club has become. The kids, families, coaches, managers, volunteers and committee members who keep showing up and helping make Southy what it is ❤️🤍

Sunday was another beautiful reminder that this club is so much more than football.

It’s people. It’s belonging. It’s community.

And ours is a pretty awesome one 😉👍🏼❤️🤍⚽️

A cracking day to celebrate the wonderful season. A big thank you to our members and supporters helping us along. You will definitely need some sunscreen today and I would recommend a change of clothes and a towel (somehow the kids get wet). Parking will be exciting this morning so leave plenty of time and no need to rush. Have a great day and kick a ball!!!!!

❤️🤍 MINIROOS PRESENTATION DAY IS TOMORROW! 🤍❤️

We’re so excited to celebrate with all our MiniRoos players and families! ⚽️🏆🎉

One little-but-VERY-important reminder before tomorrow…

👕 Players need to have returned their playing shirt to their Coach or Manager before receiving their trophy and Presentation Day card.

If that Southy shirt is still hiding in a bedroom, washing basket or car somewhere 😂 please make sure it finds its way back to your team!

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to lock in a photographer for tomorrow.

So… if we have any amazing Southy community members with photography skills and experience who would love to help us capture some of the day, we would LOVE to hear from you 😉👍🏼❤️🤍

We’ll have the soccer goal set up again as a team photo spot, so grab your whole team together and get that end-of-season photo! 📸

💛 R U OK?

Today is R U OK?Day, but mental health isn’t something we only care about at Southy one day a year.

We know how important movement, physical activity, connection and belonging can be for our mental health and for neurodivergent brains too.

It’s one of the reasons our committee works so hard to make South Cardiff Community Football Club a place where people feel welcome.

💛Because sometimes football is about a lot more than football.

💛Sometimes getting to training is the thing that gets someone out of the house.

💛Sometimes running around a field gives a busy brain somewhere to put all that energy.

💛Sometimes being part of a team gives someone somewhere they belong.

💛And sometimes our mental health can make getting onto that field really hard.

There can be weeks when someone doesn’t have the capacity to train. When anxiety makes showing up difficult. When life outside football feels heavy. When someone’s behaviour changes, they withdraw, or they’re simply not quite themselves.

That’s when being part of a team can matter even more 👍🏼⚽️

We’re incredibly grateful for the coaches, managers, teammates, parents and volunteers within Southy who notice.

Who check in.

Who ask “Are you OK?” and take the time to listen to the answer.

You don’t have to fix someone’s problems. Sometimes the most important thing you can do is listen, keep checking in and help them connect with the right support when they need it.

So today, Southy is asking our whole community:

And if the answer is no… that’s okay.

It’s okay to say you’re struggling.

It’s okay to ask for help, support or advice.

And it’s okay if you don’t even know what kind of help you need yet.
