What actually is Groove?

It’s one of the questions I get asked most.

People often assume it’s a dance class where you have to copy the instructor or learn choreography.

It isn’t.

Groove is a guided dance experience. I’ll suggest a simple movement, but there’s no “right” way to do it. You move in a way that feels good in your body, at your own intensity. Some people dance big. Some dance small. Some are laughing within minutes. Others quietly lose themselves in the music.

One of the things that first drew me to Groove over a decade ago was that nobody cared whether I got the moves “right”.

There was no choreography to memorise. No pressure to perform. No expectation that I should look a certain way.

Just permission to move.

For me, Groove has never really been about dancing.

It’s about leaving feeling lighter than when you arrived.
