Carlton Gardens Tennis Club

Our Wednesday night social comp finished its second season of 2026 last night. Lots of fun, and some good tennis. Thanks to the organisers: Angela, Kev, Leneen and Ian. Congrats to The Green Hornets: Greg, Alicia, Tan, Pauline and Sai. Well done to Wayne (super effort).

We had a BBQ today to kick-start 2026. Thanks very much to Juan Plazas for cooking some gourmet burgers. Thanks to all who came along for some nice food, a couple of cold drinks and some good tennis. All CGTC members are welcome every Sunday from 8.30am to 1pm.

Last Sunday (7/12), we had our 2025 Christmas Party. Fun was had, a bit of tennis was played, some nice food and drinks were enjoyed and there was lots of great conversation. Merry Christmas to all from CGTC.

Our Wednesday night social comp hosted the term 4 finals of 2025 on 3/12/25. Many thanks to the organisers Vanessa, Ben, Alicia and Ian who have done a great job since taking over mid-year. They also happened to take out the winners' trophy this term. Congrats!

Special recognition goes to Alicia Robson for winning the perpetual Castledine-Taylor trophy for best team player, after the inaugural winner, Zac Cribbes, in September. Alicia is a quiet achiever who does a lot of work behind the scenes, including helping out with the community sessions held every Saturday at the club. Well done Alicia.

Throwback to last week when Term 1 of our Wednesday Night Tennis held their finals night.

Congratulations to everyone who swang a racquet on the night, there was some entertaining and skilful tennis on every court.

Organisers would like to pass on their thanks to everyone who helped out in some way throughout the season by filling in for a team, cleaning up, locking up, unlocking gates or whatever it was you did!

We had a great season with lots of laughs and we are looking forward to another BIG season in Term 2.

Our 2024 AGM was held this afternoon in stunning autumn sunshine, and there were a few bits of important news to report from it. Firstly, we’re in a great spot as a club and all set up for a smashing year ahead. Our current committee are going to keep on keeping on as they have been for the past 12 months, so we say a massive thank you to them.

Our stars of the day though were the recipients of our two big gongs, the community service award named after one of the CGTC greats, Brian Falconer, and the club service award.

For the Falconer, we say a massive thank you and congratulations to Ben Castledine, a wonderful CGTCer that has helped create a welcoming environment at our club for many years. You’re a cracker Benny, and we say a heartfelt thank you once again for everything you bring to our club and the people that come through its gates.

For the club service award, we say thank you to Marcia Chew for her years of dedication to the Thursday night ladies session. It continues to be one of our great social sessions, providing many ladies in the community with a warm introduction to our club. Thank you so much Marcia!!

On Wednesday night the good folk of CGTC finished another belting season of social tennis. Huge ups to Pauline, Barb, Euan and Wayne for doing a smashing couple seasons of organising, and also for taking out the Term 4 cup! We doff our sweaty, smelly tennis caps in your general direction.

Thanks one and all amongst us that played in the spirit of fun and gratitude we put above all here at CGTC. You’re a bunch of gems.

As we come towards the end of another year we’re thankful again for the chance to play where we do with the people we do!
