Bater turning it on again in 2027!

In one of the most exciting re-signings this off-season, we are extremely excited to announce James Bateman’s return in 2027!

After an injury riddled 2025, Bater bounced back in true fashion, finishing as our 2026 Best and Fairest winner, making him a dual best and fairest winner.

Along with Twitey, Baters ability to read the footy and intercept mark is second to none, and another one who can count himself extremely unlucky to not earn team of the year recognition.

We are super excited in 2027, to watch Bater again set the standards around the club in what we expect to be another huge, successful year for the ever reliable man.

Coaches Ready to Go Again for 2027!!

2026 Coaches Daniel Baker (Senior) and Josh (Snugs) Heyne-Martin (Open Grade) are raring to go again for 2027.

Bakes, who will go into 2027 in his second year as senior coach, will be looking to improve the Bombers to a finals position with a few additions to the squad and majority of the senior squad re-signed.

Having finished 6th in 2026, a more than unfortunate run of injuries which saw the senior side use 47 players, will be hoping for a better run on the injury front and with the addition of a few key players and a focus and additions towards injury management and prevention, expectations are high for a big improvement in win/loss and with an aim to not only make senior finals for the first time in 10 years, but challenge right till the end.

Snugs, in his 3rd year of coaching the Open Grade, has no doubt the toughest job given the clubs injury run meaning he needs to dig deep and find players. That said, it goes to show what a great job he did in 2026 as the Opens finished 6th missing the finals by just two games.

On top of this of course is the recent appointment of our Reserves Coach Blake Pearce, meaning we are well placed to continue the good work of 2026 and before.

And with a little luck in 2027, let’s hope all three grades can ride a wave and be up and about at the business end of the season.

Twitey Alrighty for 2027!!

It’s been a while between postings but what a way to bounce back into the limelight with the announcement that Jason Twite, or Kevin’s brother to some, will be returning in 2027!

After a solid year across half forward in 2025, Jason was pushed to half back where he flourished. Jason’s ability to read the flight of the footy, and intercept mark, saw him finish 3rd in the best and fairest and be arguably one of the stiffest blokes in history to not make a team of the year.

2027 should be seen as a very exciting year for Skye as we continue to sign away players who add great value to the playing group and broader club in general. Bring on 2027!!

Well……this is some big news!!

Big K returns 😍
After a few seasons away from the club we welcome Kyah Karavasilis back in 2027!

A big, strong, versatile ruckman who is happy to cover the ground and plug a hole, use his silky skills and take a big grab. The big fella loves a contest and will add so much value to the playing group with the high standards he maintains himself.

The current Skye playing group that has played with Kyah in the past will know just how big this signing is. Kyah comes back with a huge hunger for success and is keen to get stuck into it and help drive the standards.

A huge welcome (back) to Kyah, we cannot wait to have you in a Skye jumper again for season 2027.

What’s better than signing up one Philp? Signing up two of course!!

We’ve given every signing their own post but far from wanting to start a family feud, we’re doing both of them at once!!

Aaron only managed seven games this year due to injury and was sorely missed. A leader of our club and Vice-Captain, his signing is integral to our aim to climb the ladder in 2027 and will again add firepower and leadership to our midfield.

Luke of course is coming off a Reserve Premiership. After playing 14 senior games in 2025 and seven senior games this year, Luke played a crucial small forward role in the reserves finals series, popping up kicking important goals when required.

Both Philps set the highest of standards in their training habits and we hope this becomes contagious next year and spreads throughout our already talented list.
