Two of Chong Chul Rhee's brothers, Chong Hyup Rhee and Chong Yoon Rhee, also hold the title of 'Master' in Rhee Taekwon-Do and assist him in managing parts of the school. Chong Hyup Rhee, 7th dan, is in charge of operations in Victoria. Rhee is also one of the twelve original masters of Tae Kwon-Do and helped introduce the art of Tae Kwon-Do to Malaysia and Singapore before arriving in Australia in 1970. To obtain a black belt in Rhee Tae Kwon Do, a student needs to demonstrate their improvement in technique and power development over their years of training. This culminates in a demonstration of board breaking during the grading test. Of course this does not happen overnight and students will be guided by their instructor and, as in this case, by Master Rhee Chong Hyup, one of the 12 Original Masters of TaeKwonDo.
It is amazing what we can do with determination, guidance and practice.

Keeping it simple…

Courage is what we show when we are aware of the dangers. Recklessness is what we show when we attempt something ignorant of the dangers.

A large part of self defense is "awareness", master that and you can start to develop courage.

With courage you can improve your abilities, avoid trouble and be safer.

Whilst training, improve your awareness of your environment, the capabilities of others, the guidance being provided by your instructors and of your own reactions and capabilities.

Develop courage, not recklessness.

Gradings can also be used as an opportunity to practice with members of other branches within your Region. It is also a way of showing support for those who are grading, such as today at the Spring grading for the Gippsland & LaTrobe Valley Region.

As it was in the beginning, so it is today. Although some of the training methodology has been updated over the decades as science improves our understanding of the body, Rhee TaeKwonDo continues to focus on the traditional basics with self improvement and self defence through the Art.
By learning cooperatively rather than competitively we can ALL achieve our best.
