The Andrew Dreverman Plate “the spirit of the PKC”

On the 1st tee at Pearl Valley the Kerrians took their traditional minutes silence for our brother Drev.

A moment for reflection on how lucky we are to compete each year with our mates on the world’s great courses. A fortune bestowed on the Drev only once, he was taken from us too soon.

The Drev’s participation in PKCII Spain embodied the tournament values of friendship, camaraderie & fair
play. His joy as a relatively unseasoned golfer to be on the PKC was immense and it culminated in a final round stage victory at the famed Valderrama.

The Kerrians have been home for a couple of days reminiscing the life experiences that the first PKC on the African continent has brought us.

“Dorf meticulously organised this whole PKC, hotels, restaurants, courses, game parks. He put huge energy in” noted President Thompson.

“Dorf joined PKCXII Ireland & it was like he belonged, part of the young crowd, a mate of Baby Johnson.

“Dorf is probably the closest thing we have to a Drev character on tour, likable, nothing phases him, always smiling, loves the game, loves wine & a Michelin Star, he doesn’t need to be the centre of the room, but often is. An embodiment of the tournament values of camaraderie, friendship and fair play.”

Dorf speaking upon his return from his beaches home sitting on his cream couch with his beautiful blonde wife and daughters,
“Ahh luv thys tuure, The Peeny Kerry Kuuup us een nnual trup where I gut tu pley th bust gulf in the weeld. Eeeend I gut to pley wuth the greeetust bunch of fullas”

“Ah hud bun fellowing the PeeKayCee on instugrum for yeeers, quit the feeny fu**er who wrytes thaat shut. Eend whun Maark seed thur wes un uupening for the PeeKayCee Eylant, I juumped”

“Eet wes greet fur Dud to meeet th buys tu” said Dorf, referring to the special appearance of his dad on the final night of the tour. Ian is one of our great social media fans & it was an honour for him to meet the upper echelon Kerrians like PKC President, President Emeritus and the GOAT.

The Dorf is a great Kerrian & we are lucky to have him.

In his memory; the tradition continues

Penny Kerry Cup XVI Final Round

Leopard Creek Golf Club

In Professional Golf, the GOAT debate is polarising.

Jack, 18 Majors, 19 runners up, 73 top10’s.

Tiger, the most dominant player in history, 97 Masters, 00 US, 2i mastery at 06 Hoylake, 15 Majors, 82 PGA Tour events, 6 straight Junior and Senior am’s. Betrayed by his knees, his back and his p***s.

In amateur golf, there is only one GOAT.

The champion golfer of PKC V on debut in UAE.
The defending champion golfer of PKCVI USA West Coast
The champion golfer of PKCVIII Melbourne Sandbelt
The Champion Golfer of PKCX Hawai’i

And now the Champion Golfer of PKCXVI South Africa

On one knee and a tonne of pain killers, like Tiger at Torrey in 08.

You can just imagine Jim Nantz in the box as closed out his fifth PKC on the famed 18th at Leopard. Walking in his eagle putt from 4m to put an exclamation point on it.

Congratulations must also go to who had an awesome 36 points for a stage victory.

Whilst historical records of its origins have been blown over by the sands of time the 36 Hole Day of Death has become a fixture of the modern Penny Kerry Cup.

Late in the tournament, as the middle aged bodies start to break down, the livers are screaming for a day off, the president inflicts 18 holes, 9 hours , 20km, 160 moments of intense concentration and trust in the hands.

Here in South Africa the 36 Hole Day of Death has been dominated by The Johnson Brothers.

Closely resembling the genetic makeup of their American Cousins and they both took stage victories in the long day.

In the morning team event the Nerds beat the Julios 2-1.

In the afternoon event the mutilated helmets beat the god given socks 2-1.

In a special shout out, reminiscent of hardgie’s penultimate hole single stableford point on PKC Hawai’i. PKC Debutant Andrew Quiney managed to rule out the possibility of the inaugural PLC N**e Run by securing a gutsy 10th place and single point.

Pillars 5 to Apprentices 1

And that is why they call him the GOAT.

After seeing AJ, the middle aged, receding father of 3 unable to walk 10 days ago after an injury to his right knee sustained whilst walking his dog, the humble scribe thought he would be unable to walk, let along play golf, let alone compete in the most highly regarded amateur golf tournament in the world.

AJ pursued an intensive week at the Stephen Dank Centre of excellence in Taren Point, where the great biochemist injected pangolin placenta peptides into his Patella, anterior and medial cruciate ligaments and performed what can only be described as a miracle.

Stepping onto the first tee at the famed Jack Nicklaus Signature course Golf Resort, with a Chemist Warehouse home brand compression bandage on his right knee, nobody suspected a stage victory from the man they call the GOAT.

In the team match the Pillars smashed the apprentices 5-1

The President Emeritus learnt that the President was delayed flying out of Europe as KLM airlines had to find him an appropriately classed seat, and stood in for the official Merchandise photos. As the Penny Kerry Cup was sitting in 1B next to the President, photos were proudly held with the Andrew Dreverman Plate.

The Andrew Dreverman Plate “the spirit of the PKC”

On the 1st tee at Barwon on Tuesday the Kerrians took a traditional minute’s silence for our brother Drev.

A annual moment for reflection on how lucky we are to compete with our mates on the world’s great golf courses. A fortune bestowed on the Drev only once.

The Drev on PKCII Spain embodied the tournament values of friendship, camaraderie and fair play. His joy as a relatively unseasoned golfer on the PKC was immense & it culminated in a final round stage victory at the famed Valderrama.

This year President Thompson awarded what was probably the most well deserved and longly anticipated awards in sport.

Ryan Hira Perkins is the founding President of the modern era of the Penny Kerry Cup. He personally undertook painstaking research into the childhood of Penny & her brother Seamus in county Kerry, uncovered newspaper clippings of Penny as champion junior golfer and traced her celebrated career and ultimate untimely death.

Quite simply the Penny Kerry Cup would not exist without Ryan.

Ryan spoke fondly “I first met Drev in 2010 on a ski trip in the Alps, he had unfortunately done his ACL on day 1 of the trip. He was in such high spirits given what had happened to him.

I spoke to Drev about the PKC which had been reborn the previous year and said he’d be in Spain in 6 months for sure.

At the heart of the PKC is the essence of what the Drev Plate stands for. An opportunity to deepen life long friendships, build memories together & fill your cup with what brings you joy.”

Finishing, “I am humbled to receive the Plate and hope to live up to its ethos for many years to come”.

President Thompson spoke of his predecessor President Emeritus & Life Member Perkins “Ryan is the heart & soul of this cup, he showed immense spirit early in PKC XV after copping a barrage from our official social media account, he stood up & dug deep at RM West for a stage victory”

“Ryan is the heart and soul of the PKC, he even enshrined it in his wedding vows. I’m sure he considered awarding himself the Drev Plate during his dictatorial reign as President, I’m glad he abstained & gave me the pleasure”

The Champion Golf Of the Year

The Penny Kerry Cup was decided in unbelievable scenes.

The PKC Delivers nail biting finishes year after year due to the patented point scoring system, that was stolen by Formula One about 15 years ago, and the genius daily handicap adjustment system.

Playing in the second to last group, the PKC diversity equity and inclusion invitee, South African Matt Addendorff, had a barnstorming stage victory.

In the final group, tournament leader Thompson and The GOAT were scrapping for second and third last places.

The GOAT had a 1foot putt on the 126th and final hole of the tournament to end his dismal round.

He Misses!

The GOAT loses third last place to President Thompson on a countback.

Addendorff is robbed of his attendance to the PKC Champions Dinner in regulation play.

After the scorers triple check the results and with light fading Addendorff and Thompson head to the famed 280m short par 4 1st at Victoria Gold Club.

The big South Effrican with a manly 2iron into the front trap.

Life long pea shooter thompson pulls out 3wood, and stuffs it to 15ft.

With 1 hand on the cup Thompson strolls down the fairway.

Addendorff a gallant bunker shot, but no birdie.

Thompson with 2 putts for the birdie and win.

Seals the victory and his third Penny Kerry Cup. His Second PKC since taking over the presidency in Galway on PKC XII

Thompson the Inaugural Champion Golfer of PKCI Ireland, The Champion Golfer of PKCXIII Mornington and now the Champion Golfer of PKC XV Victoria.

A life membership bestowed.

On Wednesday 17 September 2025 in the private dining room at the exclusive President and Life Member Thompson presented Andrew “Ayyyyye Peeee” Johnson, the champion golfer of PKC no less than 4 times, a coveted life membership to the Penny Kerry Cup.

Life membership is bestowed on a Kerrian who competes a full rota equivalent of 11 tournaments.

AP has been a fixture of the PKC since his famous Tikka Tikka Pukka Pukka initiation at PKCV in UAE.

President Thompson said, just before slipping the Peter Jackson Black Sportscoat onto AP’s Virgin Active HIIT tuned physique, “AJ is clearly the PKC GOAT with 4 tournaments victories in his first 6 starts.”
“Although now I have 3 tournament victories, I hope to challenge the GOAT status in 2026”
