Unfortunately, it wasn’t our night, going down 99–81 to Northern Force. Plenty to take away, but no time to dwell on it with another big challenge just around the corner.
Tomorrow, we go again as we take on the Hobart Chargers. 💪🧡
It’s been fun getting to know some of our refs over the past few days. Today we asked them three questions: what’s the funniest thing a player has yelled at you, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve been argued with over, and what’s been the funniest reaction to a foul call.
They all handled it really well, but while some moments were shared as jokes, the reality behind them isn’t always funny.
These questions are framed light-heartedly, but some of the answers reflect experiences that aren’t okay. And maybe it’s time we do better. When people come to work and are met with extreme reactions, it makes the job harder than it needs to be.
Our referees work incredibly hard to keep the game running. Passion is part of sport, but abuse shouldn’t be.
We are a family at Southern Basketball Association, and that includes respecting everyone on the court.
Let’s work together to show respect for our referees. Especially this Grand Final weekend!
