💙 WHAT A WEEKEND! 💙

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who played, coached, spectated, volunteered and supported our Chinchilla Fast 4’s Carnival & Junior Clinic.

Friday night’s Junior Clinic was a fantastic opportunity for 170 young people and our local coaches to learn from some of the best players and coaches in the country. A special thank you to Grace for coordinating our coaches this season and to all our local coaches for giving up their time to keep growing the game. 🙌

Then came our biggest Fast 4’s Carnival yet — a record 40 teams from Charleville to Brisbane and everywhere in between! An epic day of touch, showcasing just how exciting and inclusive this format can be. Fast 4’s is helping drive participation across all ages and abilities and is the perfect fit for Slow 4’s too.

To our committee — Chelsea, Steph & Tiffany — your unwavering commitment is incredible. 👏

And behind the scenes, Kate, Aaron, Al, Rachel & Scott — we see everything you do and appreciate you more than you know.

Our absolute unsung hero, Kylie, and her amazing team Tamika, Sax & Tylee— keeping everyone fed and watered all weekend without ever stopping! ❤️

And finally, to the incredible people from the wider touch community including BT, Trevor, Sam, Bailey, Jodie, Tom and Lachie who continue to support us each year and travel to our little club in the country and invest in our players and coaches — thank you.

A special mention to Marcus Ashcroft and Tristan Mana — we were incredibly grateful for your visit and support this year. It means so much to our club and our players.

Teams must arrive by 7:45am and first round of games is at 8:15am

Can Bar will be open by lunch time for those wanting a stubby while they watch our locals calve up some visitors🫣🍻

The man who makes it all happen!!!
You’ll be seeing him and all our other coaches at our annual Junior Clinic tomorrow night as well as at the Battle of the West💪🔥

⭐ MEET THE COACH — DAVE ZANETTE

From Chinchilla junior touch to Australian representative — Dave Zanette’s touch football journey is a special one.

Dave started playing touch as a junior in Chinchilla and went on to represent Central Queensland, the North Queensland Cowboys, Queensland and Australia.

He spent years competing at the National Touch League, including an incredible 27 consecutive years in the Men’s Open division.

Dave also played in the Cowboys Elite 8 and represented Australia as an Australian Emu.

His longevity in the game is remarkable — and perhaps even more importantly, Dave has continued to be involved in developing the sport and giving back to the game that started for him right here in regional Queensland.

From a Chinchilla junior to the Australian representation — proof that where you start doesn’t have to determine where you finish.

⭐ MEET THE COACH — PHIL GYEMORE

This one needs very little introduction.

Phil Gyemore is one of the most experienced coaches and players in Australian touch football.

Phil’s international career dates back to the 2002 Trans-Tasman Test Series.

Since then, he has represented Australia across five World Cups and eight Trans-Tasman Test Series, as both a player and coach.

He has accumulated 47 World Cup caps and 31 Test caps.

Phil has also coached at the highest level, including the Australian Men’s Open Emus, and was part of Australia’s successful 2024 Touch World Cup campaign.

His coaching experience also extends through the Queensland pathway, Cowboys programs and junior representative teams.

But what makes Phil particularly valuable at a clinic like this is his ability to take elite-level concepts and turn them into practical drills that young players can understand and use.

That’s exactly what the Junior Clinic is about.
