Southern Knights Cup run came to an end going down 2-1 to an enthusiatic Greenacres United in a hard fought Quarter Final.
Knights went 0-1 up after 10 minutes when Kian Taka headed in from the far post they but had weathered several promising Greenacres attacks. Seven minutes later Greenacres equalised in a similar fashion with James Levett heading back across the goal for Ryan Parker to slot home.
Greenacres seemed more accustomed to the inconsistent pitch surface and the pitch width. Both teams had opportunities to add to the scoreline but it was Greenacres Ryan Parker who added a second in the 71st. minute.
Unfortunately, a few minutes after conceding, Knights midfielder Nick Horsburgh suffered a broken right wrist.
Despite somewhat dominating possession in the final stages Knights ran out of time to manufacture an equaliser.
This week it's time to focus on the league(s) as Knights host 2nd. placed Parafield Gardens.

Not the best performances from both of Southern Knights teams at Seaford on Sunday, but fortunately both teams came home with the 3 points they were chasing from the local derby.
In the Reserves fixture it was an even game that changed early in the first half when Seaford's leading Reserves striker, Troy Mills was shown a red card followed by a red card to one of the coaching staff.
The referee appeared to have been prepared to call the game off but common sense prevailed and the fixture resumed. Seaford defended commendably and it took Brendan Preston to scramble the ball home late in the second half to earn Knights a 0-1 victory.
It was a similar story in the As fixture with Knights attacks being dealt with by Seaford's well organised defence and some dominant aerial goalkeeping.
With the game seemingly destined for a goal-less draw, Tane Taka was able to push the ball into the net from a tight angle with 10 minute to go.
All up a solid effort from all on the park and a relief for coach Anthony Rideout..
Next up an away Cup Quarter Final against Greenacres United this Sunday.
Thanks to Jem Simper-Brown, Bill Torut, Brendan Preston and Richard Finlayson for handling the linesman duties..
A shoutout to our 2026 club sponsors..

The 'Quest' continues...
Southern Knights made it another 6 out of 6 points on Sunday with 2 clean sheet victories against Adelaide Khukuri F.C. (AKFC) at O'Sullivan Beach.
Knights Reserves struggled to get into gear on the now uneven grass surface but eventually it was Georgios Economou who popped up with his 3rd hat-trick in a row, making his personal tally 14 goals from just 5 games.
In the As, it took a well timed headed goal from Tom Briscoe in the 15th. minute to break the ice. Then it became a bit of a show for the young Taka brothers, Tom Briscoe providing a sublime assist for Kian to net in the 25th. minute, Kian netted again the 43rd. minute followed by Tane netting in the 58th. and 61st. minutes.
Connor Smith added to the tally with his maiden senior goal for Knights in the 75th. minute. The final goal coming via Dylan 'D-Train' Torr in the 86th. minute.
Great efforts all around from the lads particularly the seemingly tireless Brett Rayner in front of Jack Walker, Nick Horsburgh and later Jaime Faulkner in midfield. Nathan Smith slotting seemlessly into defence alongside Brock Couchman, Joe Vile, Phil Rideout, keeper Matt Sweeney and later, the returning Adan Mezzino.
A great 'squad' effort.
A thank you to Toff for organising the after game pizzas and all that contributed to the great after game atmosphere in the club rooms.
Now to focus on huge games next Sunday as Knights travel to take on Seaford away !

This Sunday the 'Quest' continues at O'Sullivan Beach where Southern Knights take on Adelaide Khukuri F.C. in League Round 15.
Khukuri (AKFC), representing an Adelaide based Nepalese community, always push Southern Knights all the way and are a skilful, dynamic side never to be taken lightly.
Reserves kick-off the day at 1:30pm followed by the As at 3:30pm.

Over the last few years a large number of Southern Knights old kit white (as pictured) or blue shorts have gone missing...these are often needed as back up on game days and during pre-season trials.
If any players and ex-players have any Macron, Nike and Knights logo shorts could they return them to O'Sullivan Beach Sports Complex ... it would be greatly appreciated.

Southern Knights continued their run of wins with a hard fought 2-1 victory over A.C. Unito in League Round 14. Knights went a goal down in the 23rd, minute after having a goal disallowed followed by a strange non-penalty decision. Matthew Daughtry levelled the game at 1-1 just before half time with his first league goal for 2026. Knights dominance came to the fore in the 68th minute when Brett Rayner slotted home from close range to give Knights a deserved 2-1 lead. Despite some mysterious officiating decisions and an incident filled game the lads got over the line.
The ever improving Reserves finished 6-0 victors making it 21 goal for in the last 3 games. Georgios Economou finished with 4 for the game bringing his tally to 12 goals in just 4 games. Dennis Kibet and Nathan Smith provided the other goals against Unito..
