Jett from Horsham College has had an outstanding few weeks on the track and field! 🏃‍♂️⚡

At the Victorian Combined Winter Championships, Jett was simply unstoppable, taking out 1st place in the 60m, 1st in the 300m, 1st in the 700m, 1st in discus, and 2nd in long jump! A phenomenal all-round display of speed, strength and skill 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥈

Then, just the following weekend, Jett backed it up at the Victorian 3km Cross Country Championships. After taking a fall at the start and finding himself in last place, he showed incredible grit and determination to fight his way back through the field and cross the line in 3rd! 🏅💪

What a resilient effort, Jett — this is exactly the kind of never-give-up spirit we love celebrating! 🙌🔥

School Sport Australia Softball Program from 2027 Clarification

We appreciate the significant interest and feedback following the announcement of changes to the School Sport Australia Softball Program from 2027.

We recognise that the 18 Years & Under Championship has been a valued part of the school sport experience for many students, teachers, coaches and families. We understand the disappointment felt by those who have participated in, or hoped to participate in, this event.

The decision followed an extensive review and consultation process involving School Sport Australia's State and Territory Member Bodies and Softball Australia.

Rather than simply discontinue the 18 Years & Under Championship, School Sport Australia and Softball Australia have worked together to identify where a national school championship can provide a stronger and more distinctive opportunity within the broader softball landscape.

From 2027, the new 15 Years & Under School Sport Australia Softball Championship will provide another age group with the opportunity to represent their State or Territory at a national school championship, while complementing existing representative competitions rather than duplicating them.

A key consideration in the review was that more than 90% of athletes were attending both the School Sport Australia and Softball Australia national championships. While both events provided valuable experiences, this overlap has seen a decline in State and Territory participation in the SSA Championship, while students and families were also being asked to meet the costs of competing at multiple national-level events.

Importantly, this change does not reduce School Sport Australia's commitment to softball. The new championship will maintain national representative opportunities within school sport, strengthen links to the Softball Australia pathway, and reinforce connections between school sport and the broader softball community. It ensures school sport continues to provide meaningful, sustainable and distinctive opportunities for students.

School Sport Australia and Softball Australia remain committed to working together to make the new 15 Years & Under Championship a successful part of the national softball landscape from 2027.

What a day at the Hockey Senior State Finals! Both divisions served up thrilling, high-quality hockey with great spirit shown by every team on the day 🏑💙

A hassle-free day enjoyed by all! The final was a nail-biter, with scores locked at full time. It all came down to a shoot-out, and Hume Anglican Grammar School held their nerve to take out the title over Melbourne Girls Grammar 😱🥅

Huge congratulations to Chloe Ong from Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School for bringing home two bronze medals from the SSV State Swimming Championships! 🏊‍♀️🥉✨

Having just turned 9 years old, Chloe stepped up to race against a tough field of 10-year-olds in the 50m Breaststroke, powering through to secure a podium finish in 47.15 seconds! ⏱️🔥 She then joined forces with her brilliant teammates to claim another 3rd-place spot for PEGS in the 200m Freestyle Relay with a spectacular time of 2:40.72 🥉👏

What an incredible display of grit, talent, and team spirit. Amazing job, Chloe! 🌟💙
