A GOLD COIN CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE! 💜

From 19th October – 1st November, GKR Karate is proudly supporting RizeUp Australia, helping women and children impacted by domestic and family violence rebuild their lives.
We invite all our GKR Karate students and families to come together, wear your purple belt and bring a gold coin donation to class.

A small act of kindness can make a meaningful difference to another family's fresh start.

Let's come together as a karate community and show the power of kindness, generosity and support.

Every contribution counts! 💜

🥋💜 REGION 12 LEADING THE WAY 💜🥋

We are incredibly proud to see our Region 12 instructors featured as part of GKR Karate’s Purple Belt Campaign, helping spread an important message of awareness and support around the world. 🌏

As we kick off Stop Domestic & Family Violence Awareness Month, Region 12 is proud to stand together in support of this incredibly important cause.

The Purple Belt Campaign raises funds for organisations supporting those affected by domestic and family violence, with profits from purple belt sales being donated to RizeUp Australia, Shine in New Zealand and Refuge in the United Kingdom.

To have our very own Region 12 instructors featured in the campaign imagery being used internationally is something we are incredibly proud of. It’s a reflection of the strength of our team, our GKR community and our commitment to standing together for something bigger than ourselves.

💜 Region 12 is proud to lead the way.
💜 We stand together.
💜 We stand against domestic and family violence.

If you have a purple belt, wear it with pride. If you don’t, there’s still time to get involved and support this incredible campaign.

As we kick off our Stop Domestic & Family Violence October 2026 Awareness month, don’t forget to share photos of you wearing your purple belt to class using the hashtags

If you don’t have a purple belt, it’s not too late to order one online with all profits from belt sales being donated directly to RizeUp in Australia, Shine in New Zealand and Refuge in the United Kingdom.

ARE YOU OKAY DAY – THURSDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER 💛

🥋 GKR Karate Region 12 – Let’s Wear Yellow! 💛

This Thursday, we’re asking our GKR Karate students, parents and families to wear something YELLOW to help recognise R U OK? Day and remind each other that a simple conversation can make a big difference.

💛 Are you okay?
Our dojos are more than just places to train — we’re a community. We want to encourage our students to look out for their friends, training partners, instructors and family members.
Let’s use Thursday as an opportunity to check in, start conversations, listen without judgement and remind one another that no one has to face things alone.

💛 We’d love to see our GKR family wearing yellow at training on Thursday 10th September!
Whether it’s a yellow shirt, socks, hair accessories, a belt, shoes or anything else yellow — get creative and show your support! 💛🥋

💛 Want to do a little more?
If you’d like to support the important work of R U OK?, you can make a donation through their website. Every donation helps support conversations that can make a real difference in the lives of Australians.

In mid-June, several of our Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian senior group volunteered to complete a Homes set-up with our charity partner, RizeUp Australia.

RizeUp provides all the practical items needed for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence to make a fresh start, including furniture and other household items that help transform empty houses into homes.

When each of our GKR teams arrived at their location, they were greeted by a RizeUp driver, an empty house and a truck filled with flatpacks and homewares. The teams set about unloading the truck, assembling the flatpacks, making beds, filling pantries and carefully decorating the space. This included fitting out children’s bedrooms and providing them with the materials needed to start at a new school.

After 4+ hours of work at each location, the transformation from house to home left a lasting memory for all involved. With the knowledge that a family would be entering their newly furnished home in the coming days, each team member took comfort in knowing that they had helped create a new beginning for someone in need.

We are incredibly grateful to RizeUp for the work they do and for the opportunity to be involved in their Homes program. We also appreciate the amazing support shown by all of our students and instructors who participate in the Stop Domestic & Family Violence Purple Belt Campaign. Your involvement means a lot, not only to RizeUp and the families they help, but also to GKR Karate as a whole.

If you would like to volunteer with RizeUp to help setting up Homes, information can be found here https://www.rizeup.com.au/volunteer
