When was the last time you charged your bike lights? 🔦
It's build-up season, and a big storm cloud can turn the afternoon dark in minutes. A few habits that help:
• Run a rear light day and night. Flashing mode gets you seen in the grey.
• Use a front light that lights the road, not just one that lets drivers see you, if you ride paths or trails after dark.
• Put lights on charge when you get home, so they're full for the next ride.
• Check the mounts. Rattly roads and wet seasons loosen brackets.

Got two mates and a bike each? 🥭🚴
Darwin Cycling Club's Mango Madness Team Time Trial is on Sunday 8 November at Hidden Valley Raceway. It's teams of three, 7 laps of the 5.13km circuit, and road, tri, TT, hybrid and mountain bikes are all welcome. Sign-on is 6:15 to 6:45am and racing runs 7 to 10am. It's free for DCC members and $5 for other AusCycling members. (Not our event, just a great one. Details and rego are with DCC.)

Because just ticked off her 18th (and 13th at Port Mac!), so we did the maths 🤓

🏊 68.4 km swum, about two-thirds of the way to Batchelor (please don't try it, crocs)
🚴 3,240 km ridden, about Darwin to Adelaide
🏃 759.6 km run, roughly Darwin to Katherine and back, plus a bit
➡️ 4,068 km all up, about the drive from Darwin to Port Macquarie
🍯 650+ gels slurped (our rough guess)
⏱️ Somewhere around 230 hours of racing

IRONMAN Australia ✅ Huge congrats to Kylie, who took on the full 3.8km swim, 180km ride and 42.2km run at Port Macquarie on the weekend, in our prototype Blue Cycles 2-piece endurance tri suit! 💜
Here's how the kit went, in her words: "Plenty of comments on course, easy for supporters to spot, no chafing and all the pockets needed for Ironman."
The swim was awesome, the bike was long, and when the run got tough around the 5km mark she power walked the hell out of it, even overtaking a few joggers 😂 That's Top End grit right there.
Anything is possible. Well done Kylie! 🙌

Darwin Triathlon Club’s Off Road Duathlon is at Howard Springs Pine Forest today — Come + Tri distances (short and longer run–ride–run), open to non-members. Details and entries via Darwin Triathlon Club / AusTriathlon. Separate from us — we just love seeing Top End bikes out there.
And if you’re after a social spin instead: Darwin Off Road Cyclists still meet Sundays 4:30pm at the Old Pine Forest entrance, Howard Springs (watch their socials for weather calls).
