On the anniversary of the invasion of Cyprus, we remember all those who lost their lives, those who were displaced, and every family still carrying the pain of 1974. 💔

Nicosia remains Europe’s last divided capital. We continue to hope that one day Cyprus will be reunited in peace, justice and freedom.

A little look at some of the traditions that make Easter in Cyprus so special! 🇨🇾⛪️

Holy Week preparations: baking flaounes, koulouria and dyeing red eggs.

Good Friday: the epitaphios procession, where the symbolic tomb of Christ is carried through the streets.

Midnight mass: the Resurrection service, followed by the lambratzia, a large bonfire symbolising the burning of Judas.

Breaking the fast: enjoying foods like flaounes and trahana after church.

Easter Sunday: family gatherings, red egg cracking and souvla.

What’s your favourite Easter tradition?😊
