If you are after a meal of fish then your best option is to target bream. They are plentiful and sustainable if we all limit our catch to meet our needs. I kept four bream from today’s fishing session and it will make a great meal or two for me.

Happy Father’s Day. Enjoy the day and your family. I got an early Father’s Day gift. It was a good feeling catching my first snapper in a while.

Tight lines

Two tailor is a perfect catch for me. I battered and fried the fillets and made a curry vinegar and onion pickle and I can keep it in the fridge for a few meals. It will be ready to eat by tomorrow evening.

Rubble bottom attracts fish. The bigger fish are attracted by the small fish.

Whiting in the shallows. Don’t cast out too far or stand in the water when you are targeting whiting.

Eddy can be seen on the surface. The current flows in two directions around Coochiemudlo Island. The fishing in these eddies are normally good as the baitfish will be drifting along the calm water.

This morning was my first fishing session since my operation. The weather was amazing and the sunshine was so good. The snapper fishery is still closed until 16 August so please return any snapper you catch.
