New Feldenkrais class with Liz Page starting at Village this Saturday at 10.30AM โจ
Liz is a Feldenkrais Practitioner whose own journey with the method began while searching for answers to persistent knee pain.
After being told that a knee replacement was likely in her future, she began exploring Feldenkrais and discovered that the way she was moving through her whole body was contributing to what was happening at her knee.
That experience changed the direction of her life and eventually led her to train as a practitioner. Now in her 60s, Liz is passionate about helping people discover that our bodies remain capable of learning and changing throughout our lives.
Join Liz this Saturday for the first Awareness Through Movement (ATM) class at Village. The class is a gentle, exploratory movement class based on the Feldenkrais Method. It is designed to help you become more aware of how you move and discover ways of moving with greater ease, comfort and freedom.
Most of the class takes place lying comfortably on the floor, with some lessons also exploring movement in sitting or standing. Youโll be guided through slow, gentle movements while noticing your breathing, the contact you make with the floor, and how different parts of your body participate in each movement.
There are no poses to master and no need to stretch or push yourself. Instead, youโll be invited to move within a comfortable range and become curious about what you notice. As the lesson unfolds, movements often begin to feel easier and more connected as your nervous system discovers new possibilities for organising your body.
People come to Feldenkrais for many reasons, including stiffness, persistent tension or discomfort, balance and mobility, recovery from injury, improving movement for yoga, sport and everyday life, or simply wanting to feel more comfortable and at home in their body.
No previous experience is needed. Beginners are very welcome. Come and try for yourself. Villagers, this class is part of your normal membership.
