Creating a culture which facilitates the further participation of women in all aspects of the sport

Karting is a sport that is truly mixed and open to all, which has enabled many women to compete at all levels of the sport throughout Australia and they’ve also been involved behind the scenes as well. The Karting Australia Women in Karting Program has been developed to further enhance the fact that the sport of karting is open to women in all aspects of the sport, whether as competitors, officials, managers or mechanics.

Congratulations to Alana Gurney on being crowned the 2026 Girls Race Too Champion.

Karting Australia hosted the Girls Race Too AKC Connect Event at Southern Go Kart Club ahead of the final round of the Penrite Australian Kart Championship, celebrating our karting community and showcasing the many ways girls and women are contributing to and shaping the sport today.

The event connected women and girls across a wide range of roles, including Drivers, Race Officials, Team Owners, Team Managers, Mechanics, Pit Crew, Club Volunteers and Girls Race Too Club Liaisons, along with families and supporters, showcasing the many pathways available across the sport.

Guests previewed the Girls Race Too feature airing on the 7plus Broadcast across the race weekend, sharing the experiences of women and girls from across the Championship. The event also featured a special Girls Race Too x Scrunchiko collaboration, with a custom keepsake celebrating connection within the Girls Race Too community.

This event forms part of Karting Australia’s Girls Race Too program, which encourages more women and girls to become involved in karting as drivers, race officials, team members and club volunteers, and promotes greater visibility, representation and inclusion throughout the sport.

ALANA GURNEY IS LEADING THE WAY TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE

Cadet 12, Alana Gurney has extended her championship lead after Round 4 of the 2026 Penrite Australian Kart Championship in Seymour earlier this month. A memorable round for Gurney, marking her first AKC win.

The fast and furious Gurney showcased some incredible race craft in the thrilling Cadet 12 Final at Eastern Lions Kart Club.⚡️What. A. Race!

We have reached a huge milestone in the history of the Australian Kart Championship; an exciting 25 fast, determined, and talented female drivers have joined us in 2026. 💜 When we say Girls Race Too, we truly mean it.

Karting Australia would love to congratulate the incredibly fierce female drivers who competed at Round 4 of the Championship. We can't wait to see you all for the final round of the 2026 Penrite Australian Kart Championship in Bolivar, SA next month! 🏁

Alana Gurney has been elevated to the victory for Round 4 of the 2026 Penrite Australian Kart Championship following a post race disqualification.

Gurney is the first female driver to win a round in the Australian Kart Championship since Lana Flack in 2023, and only the third in the history of Australia's multi-round Championships (AKC/SoK/CIK Championship).

We are immensely excited for our rising star in the Cadet 12 category. Congratulations Alana.

Your efforts this year have been tremendous, and your performance at Eastern Lions Kart Club was phenomenal - that final! Incredible to watch history unfold. We cannot wait to see you continue to excel in your skills, craft, and ability.

GURNEY STILL ON TOP HEADING TO ROUND 4

Alana Gurney has maintained her lead of the Girls Race Too Trophy chase after Round 3 of the Penrite Australian Kart Championship in Townsville.

We have just under 20 female competitors in the 2026 Penrite Australian Kart Championship, so a massive congratulations to all who made the journey to Townsville and we can’t wait to see you in Seymour for round 4! 🏁

Beck Connell is this month's Girls Race Too Profile Spotlight feature. Throughout her years in the sport, Beck has been an incredible driver who has been known to push to the limit and aim high, never letting anything get in her way of succeeding both on and off the track.

Girls Race Too has many meanings to all who are involved in our sport, but for Beck Connell it reflects her time as a driver and avid advocate for those women around her.

Lismore Kart Club captured their Junior Sprockets event perfectly. They recently held a "girls only" Junior Sprockets day filled with learning and empowerment; setting up all of the girls in attendance for success by providing support, knowledge, and encouraging the passion for motorsport these young soon-to-be superstars held in their hands.
