Pirelli Road race series round 3 was held at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit was held on 29th - 30th of August.

Josh had a brilliant start to the weekend on Saturday morning with a wet qualifying session, he ended up on pole position by 3.7 seconds in front of all 300's while on his Kawasaki Ninja 250.
On Saturday there were 2 sprint races with 4 laps each

Race 1 - Starting in pole position Josh got a good start until being passed by several 300's at turn 3 he then got back into the lead whilst on the brakes into turn 4 but unfortunately crashed out on lap of 1 of 4.

Race 2 - Starting from pole position once again Josh had a good start but was quickly passed into turn 1 by 300's he then passed some of them back at turn 4 on lap 1, the race ended up being a close race between himself and Josh McHenry battling for 2nd place outright.
Finishing in 2nd outright & 1st in 250 production

On Sunday there were 2 TT races with 8 laps each, qualifying was decided on the fastest laps from Saturday, which Josh qualified in 7th for both races.

Race 1 - Starting from 7th made the starts difficult against the 300's, the 8 lap race was changing positions every lap, he had a close battle in the closing laps with Douglas Bloomer and James Davidson.
Finishing in 7th outright and 1st in 250 production with a new PB of 2:01.3

Race 2 - Once again starting from 7th position he got an average start and had a lonely race by himself after running onto the astro turf at turn 4 on lap 3.
Finishing in 9th outright and 1st in 250 production.

Paul Caslick Coaching

The team went up to Albury on Sunday as the AWMCC put on a Paul Caslick clinic, and a great day was had by all. Both of the boys did a few push ups along the way, for hitting a cone or two and were shown a new starting technique, called a dead engine start. they did a few donuts, figure 8's, and shown how to assess a corner for gear selection. A very worthwhile course.

Its been a quiet couple of weeks for the team, but they will be back at it again shortly.
Thanks to the AWMCC the boys will be up at Albury on the 30th June at a Paul Caslick coaching day, where Josh Mackley will ride his new 2013 KTM and Josh McHenry can continue his steady improvements from his pre season crash.

All setup and ready to go here at Albury for the North vs. South Challenge. GO SOUTH !!
