Today we had a very special milestone to celebrate. 🏆
Our Event Director, Sarah Dakos, has now passed 250 parkrun volunteer occasions. In fact, today was number 254, making her the first person at Highlands parkrun to reach the 250 volunteer milestone.
Sarah has also completed 326 parkruns, so at the 250 milestone her volunteer-to-run ratio was an impressive 77%. In other words, for roughly every four times Sarah has run a parkrun, she has volunteered three times.
And even that does not really tell the whole story.
With her various roles, Sarah has often volunteered in more than one capacity on the same Saturday. Across her parkrun life she has clocked up 451 individual volunteer roles, covering 16 different roles, across three different parkrun locations.
That is a lot of early Saturday mornings.
And that really is what parkrun is all about. It is completely run by volunteers who give their time so the rest of us can turn up, run, walk, chat and complain about the weather.
As well as being one of our Event Directors here at Highlands, Sarah is also a Social Media Ambassador for parkrun Australia, so apparently volunteering at parkrun wasn't quite enough parkrun in her life.
Sarah, thank you for the huge amount of time, energy and enthusiasm you've given to Highlands and the wider parkrun community.
Congratulations on 250-plus volunteer occasions, 254 and counting!
