Few of us are going to Casey Fields for a sail tomorrow around 11:00 am. The club trailer won’t be there. Quite a few members are heading to Kingston SE in South Australia for a sail on ( hopefully dry) Lake Paranki over the Australia Day Weekend.

We are back!!!
A great turn out for our first sail back at Casey after two years. Not much wind, but was nice to catch up with everyone around the BBQ. We also launched one of our new club marquee’s. Looks fantastic. Casey Council have done a brilliant job on the surface and it will provide a fast smooth surface for racing.
Missing the days of actually racing other carts on the beach, having heaps of spectators chearing everyone on.
Why and when did we decide long boring beach sails were the go?
Spectators miss out, new karters don't learn any new skills because hey are so far back they don't see what the better sailors are doing and it's just boring as s**t unless there's a strong onshore breeze.
No wonder karters are disappearing from events, who can be bothered to travel 2.5hrs for boring sailing.
This year we had a meet with NEWC and did only 2 races, then went long distance sailing because it was windy. Insted of using the knowledge of experienced blokarters, you made a call, it was the wrong one, you missed out sailing in front of a massive crowd who came to the beach. Partners and friends couldn't see what was happening and one member turned up only to drive back out and to head home again.
Covid is no excuse when we're out of lockdown, we use to race at least every 2nd weekend without a club ground and the club grew to a strong 36 members. Then we lost them when we moved to Melton. We need to focus on the racing. Once upon a time Victoria had a strong contingent who could go to any state or country and be competitive, I think now the Queenslanders have overtaken us.
Maybe the club needs to go back to how it was.

Hey guys, as you are aware, we're not able to sail our home ground at present, if you live near a school with sports grounds or large carparks, ask if a club could temporarily sail on the weekend. The Carrabian Gardens has closed amd they had a massive carpark. Let's start thinking together and get some action happening.
