Kendo or "Way of The Sword" is the traditional Japanese style of fencing which originally developed as a safe form of sword training for samurai.
The concept of Kendo is to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of the Katana (sword). The purpose of practicing Kendo is:

This semester break, we were very luck to host Sida, a 5th dan from Singapore and the sole representative for Nippon Budo in Southeast Asia. We invited him over for a training session and a great chat about equipment acquisition and future plans.

What you'll get:
Our course goes for the whole semester. We'll teach you the basics of kendo and after a few weeks, we'll even get you fitted with a bogu set (the armour we wear).

Hi, its been awhile π
Here's our semester one recap for 2025
Thank you to everyone who came and tried out our beginners course. Proud to say it was one of our most successful iterations in recent years, we've got some real talent from this batch π€©
Also congratulations to one of our own, Gos, for placing third in the Kyu individual category for this year's WA Kendo state championship π
And a big thank you to our fellow university club for hosting multiple mock shiai competitions. Our members gained some valuable experience from attendingπͺ
We have more planned for next semester, so if you'd like to join us please don't hesitate to contact us and train with us, we're always welcoming new members.Β

Hi all! UWA Kendo will be running a stall tomorrow for O-day. Come say hi, we'll be there 11am-3pm.
We're also doing a small demonstration at 1pm, where we'll be showcasing the basics of kendo.

UWA Kendo is back for 2025!
We'll be returning to training on February 3rd. You can join us every Monday 8pm at the UWA gymnasium or Saturday 11am* at the UWA multipurpose hall
