Our Wednesday and Thursday mid- week supported sailing programs for the Summer Season of 2025/2026 finished up on the 6th and 7th May.
This week we hosted an end of season vollies morning tea for our volunteers who offered their time and experience to make all our activities happen with tea/ coffee/ fruit and of course healthy cake! 🫖🤩
Congratulations to Jonathan Sell as the recipient of our Volunteer of the Year award 2026, for his assistance to repair and troubleshoot electrical servo's on our Hansa Liberties, helping the following participants with higher support needs to sail independently all season long: Lorelle, Dean and Alan.
A massive thanks to all our volunteers who helped out, lent a hand, passed on some of their sailing knowledge, and encouraged participants to get out on the water with us in the Summer of 2025/2026. ♿⛵👩🦼🧑🦯➡️

Sailability WA is proud to have been able to offer a suite of inclusive training and development programs throughout the 2025/2026 Summer Sailing Season to build skills, confidence and independence for people of all abilities, while also strengthening our volunteer taskforce.
The WA Government through the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, is a supporter of Sailability WA providing us with an Outdoor Active Recreation grant to deliver our Learn to Sail and Volunteer Training Programs. Sport and recreation creates vibrant, inclusive and connected WA communities.
Through programs such as the Learn to Sail Course for adults and people with disabilities (supported by a volunteer or support person), First Aid Training including CPR and Mental Health, Recreational Skipper’s Ticket, Safety Boat Operator Skills including powerboat handling, Dinghy Instructor’s Course, and Radio Operator’s Etiquette, our Members and Volunteers are empowered with practical, life-enhancing skills both on and off the water.
These opportunities not only support personal growth and pathways into volunteering, instructing and leadership roles, but also help create a more inclusive and capable sailing community across Western Australia. The programs have enhanced the mental health and general wellbeing of our participants and volunteers who support the program.
