🔥 WEEK 6— ILLUMINATION 🔥

We’ve arrived at the final week of our 40-Day Journey of Self-Realisation.

Illumination is the seventh stage of Hatha Yoga, the culmination of the journey and the bringing together of Sun and Moon, Ha and Tha.

This week we explore the balance of Ida and Pingala, the lunar and solar currents, and their relationship to Sushumna, the central channel.

We also work with Rudrani Kriya:

With the inhale, Pran Vayu moves from the heart towards the navel.

With the exhale, Apana Vayu rises from the pelvic floor towards the navel.

At the navel, these opposing currents meet, awakening Bhuta Agni, the inner elemental fire.

Here we begin to work with Rudrani, the dynamic transformative power of Shakti.

Illumination isn’t about chasing some extraordinary experience.

It is about balance, refinement, integration and learning to direct Prana with greater awareness.

After 40 days, we bring it all together.

The Moon and the Sun.
Stillness and movement.
Pran Vayu and Apana Vayu.
Ida and Pingala.

🔥 Not an ending. A deeper beginning.

📚 The Bhav Library is growing!

We received a few extra books the other day, adding even more depth to our little library and book exchange.

There’s now a whole array of books covering Yoga, energy, anatomy, mental health, philosophy, spirituality, and even True Earth.

And remember, if you’re part of the Bhav community, you’re more than welcome to borrow any of the books. What started as a small collection has slowly become quite the library and a beautiful way for us to share knowledge with one another.

Because Yoga is not just about what you do on the mat. Yoga is also about reading, studying, questioning, learning and contemplating. It’s about understanding the philosophy behind the practice and, ultimately, bringing that wisdom into the way we live.

The word Yoga means union, to yoke, to join, to merge. So a question worth asking is: What are you merging your mind with?

What are you reading?
What are you listening to?
What are you giving your attention to?
And is it helping you move towards greater clarity, awareness and alignment with your Dharma, your purpose and right way of living?

The practice doesn’t end when you roll up your mat. The practice is how you live. 🕉️

What a fun day at BHAV A Spiritual Practice yesterday, hosting Danielle and David from DAVID & DANIELLE.

They are so good at what they do and brought such a beautiful mix of fun, connection and play, with Acro Yoga and a little taste of Zen Thai Shiatsu Massage.

We loved having them at the studio and look forward to hosting them again soon. 🙏🏻

True transformation is not simply about changing the body.

It is about creating deep transformational change within your psyche and psychology.

To truly see the contents of your mind.

To recognise and undo the unhelpful programming, habitual patterns and unmet needs that may be unconsciously driving you.

To dissolve limiting beliefs and create a different relationship with negative emotions.

But for Asana to become a practice that takes us inward, it needs to be practised in a particular way.

The great sage Patanjali gives us a pathway:

1. Less poses.
2. Longer holds.
3. Less unnecessary fidgeting and fussing.
4. Greater inner spaciousness and awareness.
5. Sit in the witness.

When we stop constantly moving and adjusting, we begin to see what is happening within.

The body becomes still.

The mind becomes visible.

And from there, transformation becomes possible.

Come and experience this way of practising with us at Bhav.

If you want to deepen your understanding of Traditional Ta**ra Hatha Yoga, we have two upcoming 200-hour trainings:

✨ October 2026 — Bhav Yoga Studio
🌴 May 2027 — Ubud, Bali

🔥 THE SCIENCE OF HATHA YOGA

Traditional Hatha Yoga is not simply a collection of physical postures.

It is a progressive science designed to prepare, purify, stabilise and transform the practitioner.

The journey can be understood through 7 stages:

🔥 1. PURIFICATION — PREP

Through diet, purification practices, Asana and Ayurveda, we bring the body back into balance and prepare the system for deeper practice.

🔥 2. STRENGTHENING — PREP

We develop physical and mental strength, discipline and resilience, creating a body and mind capable of sustaining deeper practice.

🌙 3. CALMING — MOON

The focus turns inward.

Through slower, conscious practice, we begin to still the lake of the mind and see beyond the surface.

🌙 4. STABILITY — MOON

Calmness must become stable.

Asana, Pranayama and Meditation cultivate steadiness, resilience and the ability to remain connected to our practice through life’s challenges.

☀️ 5. HIGHER PERCEPTION — SUN

We become increasingly sensitive to Prana, the vital life force.

Through Prana Dharana, Kumbhaka and Bandha, we learn to sense, contain and work with Prana.

☀️ 6. EXPANSION — SUN

Our relationship with Prana deepens.

Through Bandha and Kriya, we develop greater capacity to direct and contain this energy, moving towards increasingly subtle experiences.

🔥 7. ILLUMINATION — FIRE

The culmination of the process.

Lunar and solar energies are brought together, awakening Rudrani, an expression of Prana Shakti.

The practices of Asana, Kumbhaka, Bandha, Kriya and Mudra culminate in the awakening of the inner Fire.

The deeper purpose of Hatha Yoga is not simply to make the body stronger or the mind calmer.

It is to awaken the sacredness that already exists within us.

🔥 The Fire is already there.
The practice prepares us to experience it.

Want to go deeper into Traditional Hatha Yoga?

Comment 🔥 FIRE below and we’ll send you information about our 40 Day Challenge & Teacher Training.

This 40 Day Challenge follows the structure and science behind the seven stages of Hatha Yoga:

1. Purification / Strengthening
2. Calming
3. Stability
4. Sensitivity
5. Expansion
6. Illumination

Most modern yoga tends to focus heavily on the first two stages, purification and strengthening, while often overlooking the deeper stages that follow.

This program is designed to give you a taste and direct experience of those final five stages, exploring how we can access them through yoga practice, self-awareness and a deeper understanding of ourselves, rather than simply moving the body on the mat.

The challenge can be completed entirely in the studio, from the comfort of your own home, or a combination of both. Each week, we’ll also come together for a mid-week session to share our experiences, discuss our progress and, most importantly, stay accountable to showing up for ourselves.

The challenge begins Monday, August 31, so there’s not long to go!

If you’re interested or have any questions, please reach out. I’d be more than happy to chat with you and help you work out whether the 40 Day Challenge is the right fit for you.

We’d love to have you on board! 🙏🔥

What an incredible journey this Yoga Teacher Training has been. 🌿

For the first time, we took our training overseas and lived alongside the students for the entire experience. Sharing the same space creates a stronger container—more real, more challenging, and ultimately more transformative. It asks more of everyone, but it also gives so much more in return.

This group was outstanding, demonstrating an incredibly high standard of teaching and a genuine commitment to their own growth. Our greatest intention is that every graduate leaves not only knowing how to teach yoga, but understanding themselves more deeply and having the wisdom and confidence to guide others with authenticity.

Teaching yoga is about so much more than moving bodies through postures. It’s about understanding the body, energy and mind, and creating an experience that has the potential to transform lives.

We’re already counting down until we return to Bali next year. Until then, if you’re feeling called to deepen your practice and step into the role of a teacher, we’d love to welcome you to our 200-Hour Traditional Ta**ra Hatha Yoga Training this October at Bhav Yoga School.

It was such a gift to have Mark Breadner | Yoga Coach back at Bhav this weekend, sharing his wisdom, experience, and deep understanding of the practice.

What I appreciate most about Mark is that he speaks the same language we value at Bhav, the language of traditional yoga. A language that recognises yoga as something far greater than physical postures, complicated sequences, loud music, mirrors, trends, or added heat.

Yoga was never intended to be just a workout. It is a pathway to self-awareness, inner transformation, and a deeper connection to life itself.

It was refreshing to hear these teachings expressed through a different voice and perspective, while remaining rooted in the same timeless principles that continue to guide our practice.

A huge thank you to Mark for taking the time to visit Bhav and share so generously with our community. We wish you all the best for the remainder of your tour and look forward to welcoming you back whenever your travels bring you this way again.
