Despite the doubtful weather conditions the Gunnamatta Greys had another successful swim at the bay this morning. In addition there were 2 birthday celebrations: Ann Wood's birthday was yesterday and Len Howell turned 80 yrs today. Both enjoyed cutting the cake and sharing with the 26 swimmers who registered today.
Len is the only returned Serviceman in our membership and we are proud to have him participating in our club activities. To put the cream on the cake Len swam 0.00 secs from his nominated time today to get 1st place in his heat.
Photos show the cake being cut and the swimmers from heat 2 heading off after the starter's gun ( which is a loud GO command).
Well done to our Greys on another great morning.

What a gorgeous morning we had at Gunnamatta Bay today! 😎☀️ Although the top layer of the water was a little on the chilly side 🥶💦, there was NO WIND to spoil the fun, making it a highly enjoyable morning for everyone! 🙌🌊

☀️🏊‍♀️ ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY DOWN AT THE BAY! 🏊‍♂️🌊

With the sun shining and not a breath of wind, we couldn’t have asked for a better day to hit the water at Gunnamatta Bay! 😎☀️ It was perfect swimming weather, and our swimmers were ready to dive in and get racing! 💦

Today we contested the 50m, 100m and 200m events, followed by our always hotly contested relays! 🏁🏊‍♂️

🌊🏊‍♀️ SUMMER SEASON HAS BEGUN! 🏊‍♂️☀️🌊

Well… spring may have officially arrived, but someone forgot to tell the weather! 😂🥶

Despite it being a little chilly down at the Bay, and the overnight rain making the top layer of water just that little bit 🥶, we had a great turnout of brave swimmers ready to dive into the first events of the 2026/27 season! 🎉🏊‍♂️

Today’s events included the 200m, 100m and the much-anticipated Trophy Event – 50m, generously donated by Kylie Mulholland 🏆👏

🌸🌞 SPRING HAS SPRUNG! 🌞🌸

What an absolutely amazing day down at the beach! 🏖️💦 The sun was shining, the air was warm and 22 swimmers were ready to make the most of it! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

With the water sitting at a very respectable 18 degrees 🌊😃, there were plenty of smiles as everyone hit the beach for our Sunday swim! 💪🥶➡️😎

And while most took on the open water, 2 headed into the rock pool 🏊‍♂️

🏊‍♀️☀️ WINTER SWIMMING – KURNELL STYLE! ☀️🏊‍♂️

Winter swimming was a little different today as we packed up and headed over to Kurnell for a very special swim, kindly organised by our local residents Carrol & Bernard. 💙👏

With the sun shining ☀️ and just a little bit of wind 💨, 16 smiling swimmers braved the not-so-wintery water… a very balmy 17 degrees! 🥶😂 And what an absolutely amazing winter swim it was! 🌊🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

After working up an appetite in the water, some of us adjourned to the local café ☕️🥐 for a very enjoyable coffee and a catch-up.

But the main event was still to come… 🥢🥡

🇨🇳 KURNELL REC CLUB CHINESE BANQUET! 🇨🇳

And WOW… what a feast! 🤤🥟🍜 With 31 hungry attendees, there was certainly no shortage of food, laughter and great company. Let’s just say no one needs dinner tonight! 😂😂

A huge thank you to everyone who made today such a fantastic day, and especially Carrol & Bernard , Peter and Cheryl Poppett for organising our Kurnell adventure. ❤️👏

☀️🌊 SUNSHINE, SWIMMING & A FEW SLIGHTLY CRAZY PEOPLE! 🏊‍♀️😂

With the sun shining brightly, there was absolutely no keeping us away this morning! ☀️🙌 A respectable 17 degrees in the water greeted our 19 slightly crazy swimmers who were more than ready to take on the chilly water! 🥶😂

17 brave souls headed into the waves 🌊💪 while 2 swimmers opted for the rock pool! 😉🏊‍♂️

You seriously couldn’t ask for a better start to a Sunday morning… and there may have been an extra incentive to get out of bed today! 👀🏆

The May, June & July Monthly Towels were finally up for grabs — and perhaps that explains the impressive turnout! 😂
Following this mornings swim we adjourned to the RSL for a warming coffee and presentation of the monthly towels .

With the sun shining brightly, it looked like the perfect day for a swim as 6 of our Cronulla RSL Swimming Club members headed to visit our wonderful friends, the Maroubra Seals at Mahon Pool. 🏊‍♂️💙

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans! 🌊 High tide and crashing waves pouring over the rock pool meant conditions were just too dangerous to hold the races. Safety always comes first! 🙌

But did that stop us getting wet? Absolutely not! 😂 We all enjoyed a quick “teabag” in the water so we could honestly say we’d been in! ✅🌊

After warming up with a lovely hot shower, we were treated to the fantastic hospitality the Maroubra Seals are famous for, enjoying a delicious beef & Guinness soup followed by a tasty BBQ. 🌭🍔

A huge thank you to everyone at the Maroubra Seals for making us feel so welcome despite the challenging conditions. We had a wonderful day and can’t wait to return the favour when you join us during the summer season at beautiful Gunnamatta Bay. ☀️🏖️

🏊🏆 What a fantastic day celebrating the 2025/2026 season! 🏆🏊

Today was the much-anticipated Cronulla RSL Swimming Club Presentation Day, and with over 85 members in attendance, it was always going to be a wonderful afternoon! 🎉💙

We enjoyed a delicious lunch, shared a few wines and beers 🍷🍺, plenty of laughs 😂, and celebrated another fantastic season of swimming and friendship.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients! 👏 From Most Improved and Swimmer of the Year to the highly coveted Club Person of the Year, every award recognised the dedication, sportsmanship and spirit that make our club so special. 🏅✨

Days like today don’t just happen by themselves. A huge thank you goes to our incredible committee and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes—organising the menu 🍽️, coordinating the award winners 📝, arranging the trophies 🏆 and taking care of all the little details that made the day such a success. Your hard work is truly appreciated. 💙

Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate another memorable season. Here’s to the friendships we’ve made, the memories we’ve shared, and doing it all again next year! 🏊❤️🥂
