Been meaning to come back, but keep putting it off?

That first class after a break can feel like being a beginner again. You’re rusty, your fitness has dropped, and you’re worried about keeping up.

We get it. Come in, take it at your own pace, and let us help you get back into it.

Send us a message if you’re unsure which class to return to. We’d love to see you back on the mats.

🥋👕 STREET CLOTHES FIGHTER 👕

One night. One mat. One great cause.

On Friday 14 August, we're turning Open Mat into something a little different.

Throw on your best op-shop fit (or whatever you've got at home), leave the gi behind, and join us for a night of rolling, games, laughs, and giving back. Whether you're a regular or it's your first Open Mat, everyone's welcome.

💙 Instead of the usual Open Mat, our entry fee will be a cash donation to . Bring some cash that folds—$5, $10, $20 or whatever you can spare—with 100% of donations going directly to the charity.

We'll roll a few rounds, run some fun games, then head out for dinner and drinks afterwards for anyone who's keen.

🎮 Dress Code

✅ T-shirts, jumpers, flannos, jackets, jeans, chinos, shorts, trackies
✅ Op-shop clothes encouraged (support charity twice!)
❌ No zips, jewellery, belts, hood strings, hard trims, or anything that could be unsafe on the mats.

It’s Year Two for Modern Combat Academy. Thanks to our community for their support. This entire venture relies on quality people being part of a bigger picture.

Instead of a party 🎉 we have revamped the small mat with a whole new look.

New mats, wider space and less clutter. We hope it improves the experience at the gym :)

Start one thing, find another.

Many people start for fitness or self defence and find something larger, something we can’t show in one week or even one month.

It’s intangible and can only be experienced over time and with dedication, trust in your training partners and a constant desire to rebuild oneself week after week.

The goal isn’t to be perfect.

The goal is to be a little better every time you step on the mats.

See you at training.

💪 Our Members at Modern Combat Academy don’t need to be the biggest person in the room to feel confident.

🥋 That’s one of the best things about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu — you feel more confident walking down the street.

You learn how to use leverage, timing, and simple technique instead of relying on strength or size. ⚙️

Over time, something changes — you carry yourself differently. More calm. More confident. More capable. 🔥

Whether you’re completely new or just looking for a challenge, our new syllabus starts soon and it’s the perfect time to begin. 🚀

Come try your FREE first class and see what Jiu Jitsu can do for you. 👊
