Despite a frustrating loss on DLS for 4th grade last week, a shining light was another strong bowling performance by young left arm offie, Freddie Schneidereit, highlighted by this superb caught and bowled to dismiss North West’s set batsmen.

With two-day cricket starting up, we are keen to see Freddie continue on, as a key part of 4th grades bowling lineup this season

The first century of the season goes to Josh Wickham in Metros, who scored his maiden MIG 100 at Mike Pawley on Saturday. Josh battled hard with 13 fours and 1 maximum to score 100 of his teams 193 runs, a phenomenal effort. What an impressive performance opening the batting. Congrats Josh!

Your Dee Why RSL Team of the Week for Round 2 of the 2026/27 season.

There were some terrific individual performances across the club this weekend, highlighted by Joshua Wickham’s magnificent maiden WCC century (100), Hayden MacFarlane’s match-winning 93 in Fifth Grade, and Will Toohey’s gritty unbeaten 69 that helped guide Third Grade to an important win.

Josh Wright (60 & 2-23) produced a super all-round performance on club debut, while Harrison Kirkham (52) and Raff McFadden (41 & 2 catches) played key roles in their sides’ efforts.

Congratulations to our Team of the Week, and thanks to Dee Why RSL for your continued support of Warringah Cricket Club and community cricket on the Northern Beaches. 💚

This week’s Play in the Day is brought to you by van der Meer Consulting, who back cricket on the Northern Beaches and help us recognise players across every grade.

A mix of results throughout the grades, with some standout performances and plenty to be proud of. 💚

FIRST GRADE
A tough day at the office in a reduced 31 over game. Kai Connors took 3/35 on 1st Grade debut before the side fell short in the chase.
SECOND GRADE
Weren’t able to chase a heavy total, with Sentarou leading the way with 35. Ruben was the pick of the bowlers with 2/41 in a result that didn’t go our way.
THIRD GRADE
An extraordinary result, winning by the barest of margins on DLS after rain stopped play with the scores level. Will Toohey’s match-winning knock finished unbeaten on 69, supported by Cal McKay’s 32 in a match-turning partnership. Davies (4/24) and Chick (3/46) set it up with the ball.
FOURTH GRADE
Jacob Watts had a strong all-round performance with 31 and 2/33, supported by McCombe (30) and Schneidereit (3/29), as the boys went down in a reduced chase.
METRO
Josh Wickham was an absolute standout, making a maiden hundred for the club in a superb batting display in a losing side. Another example of the young talent coming through the club! McFadden backed him up with 41, and Hansen (3/30) and Peak (2/33) chipped in with the ball.
FIFTH GRADE
Started their season with a comfortable chase. Hayden Macfarlane led the way with 93 alongside Kirkham (52). Cockburn was the pick of the bowlers (3/33).
CHAPPELOW
A winning start to the season, with Josh Wright making his club debut and having an impact with both bat and ball, top scoring with 60 and taking 2/23. Pavely led the bowlers with 4/24.

Thank you to Van der Meer Consulting for their continued support and for being part of our 50th year.
Next week we start two-day cricket against Burwood.

A 5 wicket haul on debut for George Hansen in metros, showcasing the young talent we have coming through the club. Taking two wickets in his opening spell, George came back on in the 43rd over and ripped through the tail with another 3 wickets to finish off the innings. Well bowled George!

Your Dee Why RSL Team of the Week for the opening round of the 2026/27 season.

While results didn’t go our way across all grades, there were plenty of positives.

George Hansen’s (5 for 21) five-wicket haul and Charlie Last’s (4 for 27) match-winning spell in Fourth Grade led the bowling efforts, while Second Grade opener Jimmy Downs (58*), who carried his bat, and First Grade’s Tully Moffat (50) got the season off to strong starts.

Showcasing the young talent coming through our Manly Warringah pathway system, George Hansen and Ekam Dhillon (4 for 45 & 32 runs) earned Team of the Week honours on debut for WCC. Well done boys, so good!

Congratulations to our TOTW, and thanks to Dee Why RSL for your support in helping us recognise outstanding performances each week 💚

The Play in the Day brought to you by van der Meer Consulting . This round saw familiar faces returning to First Grade and young players making their mark in Metro!

FIRST GRADE
A tough opening result, going down by one wicket after being sent in and posting 204. Lachy Molyneux and Sonny returned to the First Grade side, flying in from interstate to pull on the WCC colours once again, a great reflection of the connection our past players continue to share with the club and the WCC family. Moffat led the batting with 50, while Sonny (49*) and Ferguson (29). Molyneux figures 3-20.

SECOND GRADE
Jimmy Downs carried his bat for an unbeaten 58 as 2’s finished on 121 on a challenging wicket. A tough result, with the side ultimately falling short, losing by 5 wickets.

THIRD GRADE
3’s battled hard but went down by 72 runs. Stokie led the way with 42, before backing it up with 4/32, while Chick contributed 29 with the bat.

FOURTH GRADE
A finish that had plenty riding on it, with 4’s getting home by just two runs. Pike (41), Watts (33) and Schneidereit (26*) made valuable contributions with the bat, while Last’s 4/27 and Watts’ 2/21 helped secure a close fought win as they took the last 5 wickets for just 13 runs to win.

METRO
Our Metro side continued to showcase the strength of the club’s development pathways. Ekam Dhillion contributed 32 with the bat, while George Hansen delivered a standout performance with 5/21. Both are great examples of the talent coming through WCC and the opportunities our pathways provide for young players to develop and represent the club. Metro went down by 32 runs.

Fifth Grade, Chappelow and Classics were all washed out due to the rain.

Plenty to take into Round 2, with North West up next.
