It has been an eventful and emotional experience for the girls paddling in Aix-les-Bains, France for the IBCPC Festival. After some weather delay changes they finally got to show everyone what they could do.
They came away with a 3rd place in the 200m. The days races were followed by Sandy Smith Flowers on the Water Ceremony- which was very moving. With the adverse weather affecting our schedule - the girls will be doing a 1000m event today in leiu of the 500m races missed earlier in the week.

🇫🇷 Our France adventure begins! 💗🐉

Soon, 11 paddlers from Dragons Abreast Gold Coast and 5 from South C Dragons Warrnambool will head to France for the IBCPC Participatory Dragon Boat Festival.

This global event brings together breast cancer survivors from around the world to celebrate life, hope, resilience, and the power of dragon boating.

It’s more than racing—it’s about connection, friendship, and celebrating life after breast cancer. We’ll paddle together, share stories, and honour those we’ve lost.

We’re proud to represent our clubs and Australia alongside our Warrnambool teammates.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us—this journey wouldn’t be possible without you.

France, we’re ready! 🇫🇷🐉💗

A huge thank you to Gold Coast City Council and the Defibrillator Grant Program for their generous support in funding our new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at our clubhouse.

This life-saving equipment provides greater peace of mind for our members, families, visitors and the wider community. We are incredibly grateful for Council's commitment to helping local community groups create safer spaces for everyone.
Thank you for investing in the health and wellbeing of our community. 💙❤️

Great morning

Our Dragons Abreast family has always believed that no one paddles alone, and right now, one of our cherished paddling sisters needs us more than ever.

As many of you know, Deirdrie is currently in India undergoing treatment for Stage 4 cancer. Throughout her journey, she has shown incredible courage, strength, and determination—qualities that inspire all of us both on and off the water.

If you are in a position to donate, no matter how big or small, your support would mean the world. If you're unable to contribute financially, simply sharing this post can make a huge difference

A beautiful Sunday began with our annual Winter Solstice Reflection at Daybreak, remembering those who have survived breast cancer, those who have not and those who are currently undergoing treatment 💞 a special time of shared gratitude and support.

Of course, a training session followed, watched by an eagle eye, with our first Knobby Risk Taker Award being presented to Carolyn Raven, for boldness and courage on the boat.. (she also didn’t talk!!!). Well deserved to a great addition to our club, thank you Knobby for your encouragement.

Plus, we welcome Bronwyn Nicholson to our merry band of DAGC paddlers. So yes, a busy morning… onward and upward, go pinkies!!! 🩷🩷

As we celebrated our DAGC 25th Anniversary Awards Dinner at Currumbin RSL last night, wonderful memories, great stories and lots of love and giggles were shared by so many of our members - past and present, sponsors, neighbouring clubs, family and friends, it was an evening to remember. Thank you to Action in Focus Photography for capturing the event, so proud of the success of our club!!
